PINKHAM NOTCH, NH — It's a different world in Pinkham Notch, NH. While meteorologists in the southern areas of New Hampshire and Massachusetts have been extolling the power of modern snow-making equipment to put snow on the trails of some ski areas in the region, Wildcat has both made effective use of that technology and been blessed by the good graces of Mother Nature.

"We've already received over four feet of natural snow this season," says Tom Caughey, General Manager of Wildcat Mountain. "We're skiing top-to-bottom, and we were all but 100% open until last Thursday. We experienced a minor set-back with some rain, but we still have 80% of the mountain open and over 30 trails of skiing & riding. Conditions were great today!"

According to Caughey a good reason to be optimistic despite the wet weather is that a very good base is already in place, with both natural and man-made snow. "Wildcat is located at a base of almost 2,000 feet. Earlier in the season, we received snowfall much of the time that it was raining in the lower elevations," notes Caughey, "Plus we have had a lot of great snow-making weather overall. It has made a big difference for Wildcat. The new snowfall on Sunday was of a dry consistency, so it's blending in super well with the machine-groomed granular surfaces created following the last storm. This is powder!"

Wildcat is hosting ski demos from Friday, Dec. 31st through Sunday, Jan. 2nd, and live music and entertainment in the Pub.
