I had 6 weeks for a while. That's a workable amount of vacation time to actually have a life and decompress. The Europeans have it right.

I read that the average person in the US gets 13 days but doesn't even use that much...I never understood why people don't use all their vacation time..In theory 6 weeks doesn't even seem like that much...since you still have 46 weeks worth of work or almost 90% of the year. I started with only 6 days at my job and in September I get 20 days which is what we get after 5 years..plus 3 floaters and maybe like 7-8 paid holidays..and I get out at Noon on Fridays..it would be really tough for me to start over in a corporate environment..

Gss that it a pretty good deal. I got 2 weeks after a year. 3 weeks after 10 years a month after 15 years. I get all the major holidaze and a few floaters that we spilt. like columbus and MLK day. Needless to say I take the witner ones. winter... Longegivity and amount of hours I work lets me sneak out early around 3 on Friday in the winter..... when I can.

Like old snowboarder, I can take when I want, but I have to plan it in advance.

I take Monday or Friday when I can so I can extend the weekend. Over 3 hours up and 3 hours back wears on me. The Ny and Pa guys who drive the 5 plus hours every weekend are more deadicated than me..

If I day tripped it would we Tues, wed or thurs. Gives the snow makers a chance to re-surface and there are quite a few like me that try to stretch the weekend with a Friday or Monday.

I was thinking next season, I'd was going to try a mix of taking 1/2 days off mid-week and then the following week take a full day off to get more snow time in.

Times two..although I'm sure I make less than the majority of the people on here..If I had a wife and kids to support..we'd be living in a box..
