The weather has finally changed, it would appear. No more early December-like weather with that one rainy day a week. Sugarbush and MRG picked up 5-7 inches during that changeover from rain Friday and it's looking wintery as far as the eye can see. We're hitting low single digits at night and 15-25 during the day. We're expecting a couple of inches of snow tonight and it looks like there's a real storm coming on Wednesday.

My plan for the week: Sugarbush Mount Ellen on Tuesday, MRG with my wife on Wednesday, and Sugarbush Lincoln Peak on Friday. Give me a holler if you'll be in the area and we can take a few runs together.

I hope the weather has changed and I hope I'll be skiing powder on Wednesday. However, since it rained this past week and every week before that this season, aren't your claims rather inexact and premature?

Sure, they're inexact. You never know what's going to be happening to the weather in New England. But look at the short term outlook. There is no way those temps turn into rain. Contrast that with the last several weeks where our low periods have been 20-30 and our warm day 30-40.

No, we've definitely changed, and the 6-10 day looks like more of the same, although obviously it's gets harder and harder to predict the further out you look.

Well, this looks to be the first week that it will be cold enough in the Northeast to make snow every day. That will definitely help places like Hunter and Mountain Creek. I'm planning to hit one of those spots this weekend. And maybe Killington can finally get their number of open trails into three-digit territory!

That's what the forecast holds with frigid Canadian air and I expect to be skiing cold light powder on Wednesday. I was worried about getting stuck in a big storm, but it looks like they are holding to Light Snow due to the sub-zero temps for then. Looking out my window I see about 8 inches of fresh powder. Today I should be setting down an x-c track as well as shovelling it!!! I do hope it sticks for a while and I am not shovelling in vain.
