I've been checking out different destinations for a week long trip for early March. Our budget is very limited this year and I was looking for the least expensive trip I could find. I had just about settled on a Elk Mountain, Belleayre trip, especially after getting good responses from some AZ members about Belleayre. I was paging through New Hampshire winter magazine and saw an add for Woodward's. They have what they call a winter pass, 7 nights midweek lodging $199. Then they sell Cannon tickets at $15 a piece. I figured 2 or 3 days at Cannon combined with 2 at Burke and I would have a cheaper trip, with bigger mountains then and Elk/Belleayre combo. Has anyone ever stayed at Woodward's? It sounds like a deal too good to be true, that's why I'm somewhat skeptical.
How long of a drive would it be from Lincoln to Burke? I'm guessing not much more than an hour. I also saw that Burke now has a HSQ but it is on the lower mountain. Seems like a lot of lift for 400 vert.
As always thanks for any comments. You Alpine Zoners are always very helpful for planning our trips. :D

1 hour from lincoln to burke. for 7 nights at only $199  you can't go wrong doing day trips an hour away from the hotel. the high speed quad is a lot of lift for limited terrain but fits into the direction the new owners are going and a summit high speed quad to replace the existing fixed grip is likely to go in this summer i would imagine. $15 for cannon tix, wow! loon wouldn't be a bad option for one of your mid-week days as well. are you driving or flying? lincoln is barely more than an hour from manchester, not a bad deal.

i would definitely call the hotel personally, that does seem WAY to good to be true. per person double occupency likely which would make that hotel cost $398?

Yes, there is a new HSQ for the lower mountain. Only 61 chairs on it though, so it has good capacity, but not too much. Sign of things to come soon at Burke.

As for March, that is usually a very good month for Burke snow-wise. Let's put it this way: they don't close for lack of snow.

Be sure to look on their website for deals in March, especially cheap tix on Sunday PM's.

PM me for more info.

One hour or so from where you'd be staying. Cannon and Burke are a great combo...hell, I even do it

only 2nd hand info, but I know people who go to Woodwards and keep coming back. Right off the highway. Very close to everything that lincoln-woodstock offers.

I called them right after I saw the add and had checked out their site. The deal is you get 7 vouchers good for 1 night each(Sun.-Thurs.). It's a room with 2 double beds, accomadating up to 4 people. Discount tickets are also available for either Loon or Bretton Woods, I'm not sure which one she said, for around $45. I'll only be able to use 5 vouchers but that's still $40 each night. I'm going to call back to see if I get the same info before we make our decision. We'll be driving up. I figure it won't be too much further than last year's Sugarbush trip.
I got on Burke's site and you can print a coupon for buy 1 ticket and get second ticket 1/2 price. That adds up to $63 for 2 people. Very reasonable!
Hopefully we'll be able to swing it. I'll be needing the inside scoop on Burke and Cannon(including Mittersill)if we do. Thanks for the info!

for the record, i don't give out back or side country info via the net. i would be happy to field any questions concerning cannon or the other mountains in the area though, i have skied all the areas in that region except bretton.

I stayed at Woodwards last winter for a quick midweek overnight to Loon. It was a good value for $59.00. It's a multiple building motor inn setup. Rooms are somewhat dated, but clean. It has a nice indoor pool and jacuzzi. I don't think I'd want to stay for a week, but a night here and there is fine. Beware of school groups! They took over the dining room and pool when I was there.
