Will any of you Alpine Zone bump fans be attending the Lake Placid World Cup mogul contest one week from today? I'm pretty sure that my buddy Bill and I will be day-tripping from Easton/Franconia to catch the action live.

If you love bump skiing and you've never seen World Cup competition live, do yourself a favor and go. You have to see it live to appreciate the steepness of the trail, the nastiness of the course, the speed with which these WCers ski, and the huge amount of air they get. It'll blow you away.

FYI, bumps are on Friday and Sunday, and air is on Saturday evening.

Not in the cards for me I'm afraid...would have been good timing to meet up with you and get up to Whiteface.

I will second the comment about WC bump skiing...if you haven't seen a race live, you have no idea what you're missing. I've been to a few, most recently in Breckenridge, CO. I am still amazed at how fast the WC bumpers ski  !

Ah, too bad, Jim. Was hoping you might make the trek.

Bad timing...I'm off next Tues and Wed so I have to be here at work on Thurs and Fri. A little too far away to go for 2 days, plus my 9 year old son would miss out on his freestyle development program over the weekend at Hunter; I'd never hear the end of it!

My 11 year old son broke his arm on Christmas Eve doing 360's in the halfpipe and now his 9 year old brother is on a mission to catch up to him while he's out of action.

I'm looking at a NH trip in mid Feb...I'm trying to catch the AZ outing at Cannon on 2/11. The rough plan is to ski Cannon on 2/10 and 2/11, then somewhere else (Waterville Valley?) 2/12 and 2/13. You gonna be around then?

Cannon on 2/10 looks good to me. Cool. Keep me posted as the rough plan is refined.

I'm there for it every year. Always both enjoyable and humbling (which is a good thing) at the same time. When you start thinking you are a good bump skier, then watch men and women who really are, it brings you back to reality.

Always a fun weekend if any AZers go give me a shout. I'll buy the first beer at the end of the day.
