Yeti Cycles Padroni Shorts
Many companies successfully operate in a niche market, with Yeti Cycles being a perfect example of this. On the other hand, while being the underdog is fun for a time, it's far more common for companies to diversify. And for that reason it comes as no surprise that the dirt-junkies in Golden, Colorado are expanding its expertise into the world of mountain bike apparel. And with innovative products like the gravity-oriented Padroni Shorts, it's inherently simple to see why.
Note that when we use the term 'diversify,' we use it loosely, because you won't find any Euro flair coming from a company that's been dedicated to off-road cycling since its inception. Instead, you're only going to find pieces that're destined to get muddy. In order to produce products that reflect its values and quality, Yeti enlisted the help of a lead designer with extensive experience at Patagonia. And if you're looking for tells of this recruited expertise, they're more than apparent in both the fabric selection and construction techniques of the Padroni. Accordingly, the aforementioned provides the Padroni with the durability of moto-bottoms, only without the weight or stiffness.
For the shorts themselves, Yeti constructed them from a durable nylon fabric. This material provides both the breathability and flexibility needed for downhill runs, without compromising its resistance to abrasion. And for particularly nasty days, Yeti also treated the fabric with a DWR finish. So, you don't have to worry about getting soaked through from wheel-spray.
The Padroni shorts have a longer length then either the Teller or Freeland shorts, and they also use a power mesh liner that's soft against the skin for irritation-free pedaling. This liner also lends itself to wicking perspiration away from the skin. So, you're able to stay dry and comfortable after hours on the trail. In terms of fit, the shorts feature a long, 15-inch inseam. However, given the Padroni's baggy cut, Yeti took the precaution to articulate the knees in order to permit an excellent freedom of movement, with or without pads. For a touch of added ventilation, the shorts also feature zipped thigh vents that allow plenty of airflow through the shorts for hotter rides.
Securing the fit, a Velcro fly has been teamed up with a waistband that features a large stretch yoke, a tech webbing waist adjustment, and silicone grip tape. Collectively, the system provides a perfect fit that'll stay dialed, run after run. And for storage of your ride essentials, Yeti also included two zippered stash pockets and two hand pockets.
The Yeti Cycles Padroni Shorts are available in the colors Black and Grey and in five sizes from Small to XX-Large. Please note that Yeti bases its sizing from the waist. So, a Small is a size 30, Medium is a 32, Large is a 34, X-Large is a 36, and XX-Large is a 38.
