good for you. stowe is great. damn shame im a weekends+holidays only guy.
I wouldn't touch Stowe on a weekend with a 10 foot pole. Guy on the lift on Monday said Saturday traffic was backed up to Piecasso at one point.

Using Indy on Sundays has worked out very well on the way up. I'm lucky in a way to not have true weekends off at work. I've missed a fair number of other events and family gatherings and stuff like that on Saturdays, but it works out nicely for ski season.

2/2 to 2/7 at Gore plus 2/11@Belle. Several concussions (not skiing related) took me out for a bit. So 17 and will probably do a stretch at Gore after this week. Someday I will find you JimG although I'm sure you'll out ski me. I'll slow you down but I will bring good beer.

Sorry to hear about the concussions. Those are nothing to play around with. Glad you're OK.

The last month I've spent mostly up in VT at K. Conditions up there have steadily improved and are now primo. And looking like they will improve more this coming week. I was in the Cats today, I went to Hunter to get my new J skis bindings and a Phantom glide treatment. Did not ski. But with new boards and the favorable weather patterns I'm so stoked to get back up to K I'm having a tough time sitting still.

Had a great week up north. Went to Stowe 2/11. Then 3 powder days in a row at Bolton Wednesday and Stowe Thursday and Friday. Even though wind was howling Friday everything ran except the gondola. Friday was day 44 and surprisingly empty slopes.

Fun day even with a mixed bag of precipitation. Started with 3” of heavy snow and then switched to sleet/freezing rain for about an hour, then finished the day with a couple inches more snow. Best runs were Tin Woodsman/LostPrincess, Shockwave, and White Heat.

27. 2/14/25 Ragged Mtn
First time to Ragged. What a fun mountain! Skis way bigger than its vertical suggests. The glades are fun even though they are pretty thin cover right now. Glad I had my rock skis for that. I think my favorite runs were Sweepstakes, Headwall to Raggae Glades, and the whole Ravine area. Can’t wait to get back with a little more snow.

Stunningly awesome! Plus, I got to use my new J skis. I bought a pair of Fast Forwards. Very similar to my Kore 93's in terms of dimensions, rocker, and length. But where the Kores get a bit floppy in hard snow, the J's lay down serious trenches. And they make hay in bumps, trees or anywhere else I might go. Even though my Kore 93's are in good shape I don't think I'm going to use them much anymore so now I have a new pair of rock skis.

After the snow and forecasted intense winds on Presidents’ Day, I opted for Black which proved to be a good call as it did not affect their operations. I think I had the most fun hucking the small cliffs on Upper Galloping Goose under the double. Probably did that half dozen times or more. Other than Mr. Rew which needs some major TLC, everything skied great.

29. 2/22/25 Magic Mtn
Finally, after about a decade of this place being on my radar and multiple planned attempts that were scratched due to a bad weather cycle or some other bad luck, I got to ski at Magic. It was certainly worth the wait. Beautiful clear day and everything was open. I got the 4th chair on Red and didn’t stop till the lifts closed. Hitting just about everything on the map.

30. 2/23/25 Ragged Mtn
Another solid day at Ragged. Wasn’t expecting much sun today but it was out quite a bit and was warmer for a change. A little bit more snow than the last visit but still had to be careful about thin cover in the glades. With 30 days before March, this is certainly a personal best for me for this point in the season.

1. 12/10: Mt Snow - Groomers in the freezing drizzle. 18.5k
2. 12/25 Mt Sunapee - Fast groomers on Christmas. 15k
3. 1/9 Pats Peak - Windy groomers and some bumps. 12.1k
4. 1/12 Bolton - Late day woods. 7.4k
5. 1/13 Stowe - Terrific soft woods and nats. 40.7k
6. 1/14 Stowe - 9" powder, untouched Liftline, deep woods. 20.9k
7. 1/20 Magic - 4" powder, first tracks Talisman and Sorcerer, thin but soft. 21.9k
8. 1/23 Crotched - Night skiing cut short by lift failure. 4.9k
9. 1/26 Okemo - Very thin trees, fun nats, big midday squall. 31.6k
10. 1/28 Waterville - Couple inches from squall, empty bubble laps. 25k
11. 2/2 Jay - Bit of a struggle with variable snow, nats more fun than woods. 20k
12. 2/3 Stowe - 4" refresh overnight, woods skiing gorgeous. 30.1k
13. 2/9 Ragged - 9" powder but late arrival had me picking up the scraps. First time there, glades are terrific! 16.7k
14. 2/10 Stowe - 7" powder, woods deep, bashing powder bumps on Liftline, exhausting day. 30.9k
15. 2/11 Stowe - 2" of the softest snow I've ever seen was the perfect topping on the already soft and deep base. Like skiing in feathers. Woods amazing. 33.1k

16. 2/23 Middlebury - Main summit lift broken down, arrived late and only other summit access closed at 3 so quantity was limited. Some crust in backside woods. Liked what I saw for terrain. Day was a dud but would love to go back. 4.3k
17. 2/24 Stowe - Only managed 5 runs because I was under the weather. Woods full of hero snow. 10.3k
18. 2/25 Stowe - Spring preview with manky woods but nice soft bumps and groomers. Knee started to hurt and rain moved in so called it early. 15.6k

Definitely not a great weekend quantity or comfort wise. Think I slightly tweaked some leg/knee muscles making a turn in the crust at Middlebury. Felt it today in the soft mank. Also fighting a small cough/cold which hasn't really been that bad but I was sucking wind in the bumps the last couple days. Wish I had a do-over! But definitely got some good runs in as well.

18 days by the end of February is definitely my best pace since before COVID. A few bad days quantity-wise in there but the quality has been incredible most days. Things will be changing for me in March. Boss is on vacation for a few weeks so no long weekends for me. Pretty much limited to Sundays. With the freeze up coming this weekend and the mild knee pain I was experiencing, I might skip this Sunday. Looking to get to Cannon and Magic for day trips during the month. Final week of the month I will be on vacation. Was gonna go west but I really don't see a point to going anywhere besides northern VT unless there's some major meltdowns between now and then. Would love to spend the week getting my second Jay, Bolton, and Middlebury days, as well as a couple more Stowe days.

What a trip. Really good snow in revelstoke considering the strange dry mid season they’ve had. Lake Louise is awesome. Got screwed by wind at Sunshine (none of the big boy lifts ran), but that caused me to go to Calgary early and hit the casino where I won $525 canadaroos at the craps table. Airporting now. Waiting for the Xanax and edibles to wash over.

I only skied 7 days in February, I unfortunately had a busy work schedule. One of those days was at Mt. Peter and the other 6 were at Mountain Creek.

Day 36 today, all at Stratton. The deep freeze broke, things softened quite a bit, lapped upper tamarack a few different times, skied pretty good. Tried the lower woods, eclipse and emerald, not worth it, the washout coming may be the end of them unless there’s a dump but doesn’t look like anything for the next couple weeks.

First time this season we’re gonna plan on a few day trips to K (and maybe pico) & SB, possibly a trip to SR if it’s worth it.

Seems like la nina shifted the season ahead a month, hoping it doesn’t peter out from here.
