Not a Yankee but a Metropolitan and we love Bill Buckner :D
I think we all recovered nicely from that era. I remember that game well. I was at a Haloween party in a local hall watching the game in the bar on a 18" old TV. Everybody crowded around. I was in college at that time for an age perspective.

Suddenly this Sunday night storm might be interesting in southern VT. The wind and cold will be brutal Monday, but might be a good day for Magic?

The funny thing about the Bill Buckner play is that it grew so big in significance that people know about it, but have completely misremembered it or never say it live and just learned about it wrong. Ask most people about this & they'd say, "the ball rolled through his legs & the Red Sox lost the game". Not true. The Red Sox still could have won, that play only tied the game. Many also think it was the end of the World Series. Not true. The Mets still had to win Game 7

The only similar sports moment I can think of that grew so big it's known by nearly all, but misremembered, is the Miracle On Ice. The vast majority of people think USA best Russia in 1980 to win the Olympic Gold medal game. Not true. They beat Finland to win Gold.

They asked Mookie Wilson what he was thinking during that at bat. He said and I quote "I just didn't want to strike out"

I was in a bar in Morristown that night (after the Far Hills Hunt that day, read major drinking) and I have never seen a bar explode like that one did when that play happened

Will attempt to ski CO next Tues-Fri. Lows maybe -15 F some of those nights. Whew. This may test the resolve in my old bones.

Probably going silent on here as I drive across the country over the next week. I'll report later on how it went with the polar vortex:unsure:

Bolton skis way bigger than it is, imo. No run out. Top to bottom tree runs. I worked it today. Lifts are slow tho. A true bell to bell 7.5 hour session only got 19500 vertical

Strange aside here, I was at BW last week and chatted with a couple of dudes (brothers, I think) who said they used to work at the Stateside lodge at Jay back in the old days. They’re hearing that the Jay/Ragged owners are taking a serious look at buying Burke. Anyone else hear that?

Drive wasn't too bad last night coming home from Vermont. Pretty light traffic on the Thruway, sections that were snow covered and sections that were black top (dropping temps however) New truck felt very steady all the way down. Still an easier drive then some of times I've come down off the foothills into Denver on I-70 in the snow.

I hadn't skied a holiday weekend up north in a long time. The crowds were pretty large at both Stratton and Killington but we got good parking at both. Its interesting how the lift lines seem to ebb and flow. One run and the corrals are full then you come down again and almost walk on to the lift. No rhyme or reason for it. Hit one really long line at Snow Bowl at Stratton (enough to piss off the wife) but overall we packed our patience and were able to have a good time.

Did have a "rattler" however. 1st woods runs of the season which were actually pretty good with mild bones and some shark fins, however I decided to exit one and just as I was hitting the packed trail again something "grabbed" a ski and I took a pretty good header, (really a face plant). Hit on my goggles pretty hard and low and behold today I have a shiner under my right eye. Had to take a short break and re focus after that one. I will tell my friends and co workers that the wife did it. :ROFLMAO:
