My friends and I planned a trip to Killington this weekend a while ago, but the weather seems warm and wet. We are from the Philly area so its like a 6 hour drive. Anyone in Vermont know if the conditions are going to be good enough for boarding on Friday and Saturday? We are all new to snowboarding this year, and this was our plan to actually go to a big location, but at the same time we don't want to drive all that way for nothing.

I am only a beginner but I do like to push my limits...is slush hard to board on?

Is Easter weekend usually crowded?

Thanks!

Go for it. Should be a good weekend until it gets way to hot. Start early. Conditions with be soft and perhaps a bit mushy late but you won't have to worry about getting wet... well, unless you fall. :D

Go for it dude. If the skiing gets too mushy for your liking, sit outside and have a beer. When the sun's out, there's no 'bad" day spring skiing.

where to ski

traveling to VT with family next week for spring break from Michigan. Plan to hit MRG for last day, staying by Sugarbush. What other places look promising for week of 4/5-4/10? glade skiing??

Spring skiing and riding is amazing. Outside Magazine just summed it up brilliantly:

Here's one thing I don't get about ski culture: In November, everyone is thinking about skiing, and the skiing usually sucks. In April, everyone has their eye on the beach, and yet the skiing often rocks.
http://outside-blog.away.com/blog/2010/03/top-10-resorts-for-spring-skiing-and-snowboarding.html (they name Killington one of the best ten resorts for spring skiing, FWIW)

Seriously...you'll be hard pressed to find someone that's had a bad time on a warm sunny day when there's still snow on plenty of trails. Dress appropriately, enjoy the killer combination of sunny skies and forgivingly slushy snow, and when it gets too slushy (if there is such a thing) go enjoy some beers outside.

I'll be at Killington this weekend, enjoying what I consider to be Eastern skiing's finest season. Hope you decide to make the trip...

^^ That quote is so true....

Soft snow and warm bluebird skies is an awesome combination for skiing which I love. The only thing about it that I don't like is that it means the seaosn is coming to an end soon.
