Where should I start, went with cousins, sister and brother inlaw last night to see O.A.R. at the now Comcast Center. We packed up the car, got some beers, etc... Now when you are pulling into the parking lot there are lit up signs saying now alchohol on the premesis at all, thought just because it was a younger crowd. We are all 26-32 years old didn't think it would be a big deal to have a few beers in solo cups while waiting to go in. WRONG!!!! The event staff, cops, who ever now can come up and look into your cup, if it is a alcholic beverage you have to dump it out, possible open container arrest or even be escorted off of the property. I understand trying to control the under-age drinking but it is rediculous. We all sat in the car like 15 year olds trying to enjoy a few beers, but had to hide them every time the cops came up to the car weaving in and out of the cars.

Then a few younger kids got into a pushing match next to us and the event staff acted like there was going to be a world war. This white trash pos event staff guy grabbed on of the kids and kept on slamming him up against the golf cart like it was a bad episode of cops. It was total bs, they ran around on their walkie talkies calling for back up, give me a break. One kid had a BC crew jacket on and the other had a hat on backwards, looked like a big threat to me, rediculous.

Then we got inside, bought and $8 beer. I went to go buy another after I sold my car in the parking lot and they have stopped serving beer at 9:15.

The place is rediculous, after talking to a security guard inside, he told me that since Comcast took over 9 concerts ago, the place has turned to lock down. I have Jimmy Buffet tickets for next month and we all know how much of a booze fest that is, he said that it will be strict for that, told me to get rid of my tickets.

So, anyone looking to go and have some fun at the Comcast Center beware. The music was good, but the venue has turned to the dumps. We are responsible adults, my brother inlaw doesn't drink so we were all safe, but could not even enjoy ourselves, the parking lot scene was too tense like big brother was standing over you. I have never seen so many people get arrested before.

That stinks. You called it yourself though, it is O.A.R. If a band that attracts a less troublesome crowd (Jimmy Buffett, Santana, Steve Miller or any jam band) were playing I'm sure they would have loosened up in the parking lot. I remember seeing Jimmy Buffet the same month I saw Dave Mathews at Jones Beach. No trouble tailgaiting at Jimmy Buffett. Dave Mathews on the other hand?????

Incidentally, there's a music festival in your neck of the woods on the 16th in East Falmouth. Judging by the line-up...it should be an easy time to have fun.

I heard the same thing the other day. They are cracking down for all shows not just younger crowd type of shows. I always thought that place sucked to see a show, the only good thing about it was tailgating. Now I have no reason to ever go there again.

I've only been to a few Buffett shows and concluded that I could be just as happy with just the tailgate party. If you hang there for the whole afternoon, you've got your musical fill of his music and it was fun. The new rules screw that up.

I've heard similar horror stories about the place these days. I still refer to it as Great Woods as well, last time I went there it was called Great Woods  I had considered going some show there a while back, but had heard they took half the lawn away and made it seats.

Sure is a far cry from seeing Phish and Jerry Garcia Band there back in the early 90's. They barely even searched cars back then as evidence by the huge amount of nitrous tanks in the parking lots. I remember seeing a Jimmy Buffet show there 'back in the day' and they had covered the entire lawn with sand. The tailgating in the parking lot came as advertised. Now mind you I HATE Jimmy Buffet. I personally think the only thing more lame and cheesier than Jimmy Buffet is a Jimmy Buffet cover band. Having said all that, I still managed to have a great time.

Under the current gestapo style management, you couldn't pay me to go to the place.

I just talked to my buddy, it is all show now. His wife and a few girlfriends went to see the police the other day and same thing happened there.

WOW, this is the first I've heard of this.....guess I've been out of this scene in quite a while. Friends and I used to go to see Buffett every year for a few years when it was called Great Woods, it was quite the party. That really stinks, I'd be kinda pissed about the whole not being able to have some beer before the show, especially since the beers are waaayyy over priced inside.

My hubby, neighbor, and I just have a pretty good weekend at Meadowbrook. We went to the Hippiefest, dress up for it and everything, had a great time! No problem tailgating drinking some beers before going in, then paid their price of $5/6 a beer inside. We had such a good time we went and did it again the next night to see Styx and Boston in the rain! Still had a great time! Meadowbrook is about the 3rd of the size of Great Woods, which to me is evern better.

Now, I'm kinda glad I don't have Buffett tickets, I'd be pissed I couldn't drink my own beer before the show.

Few other kickers. If you are out of state and under 25, no beer for you inside, doesn't matter how many forms of id. You can be banned from the property for drinking, tickets taken away, beer confiscated and arrested. Welcome to Massachusetts, great way to boost the local economy.

Wow, that really blows!! Many many years ago when I still lived in Massachusetts we'd go to Great Woods a lot and tailgated big time before whatever concert we were seeing. Last time I was there was to see Rush in 2007 (second row dead center), and probably because the median age of the crowd security wasn't cracking down.

Thanks for the warning!
