Resort or Ski Area: Saddleback

Conditions: A bit of everything

Trip Report: Surprisingly good day at Saddleback. We decided to sleep in due to time change and make a half-day of it. Skied 12:30 to close and it was pretty good.

Saddleback has a lot of cover. Deepest of the season. The liquid event locked it all up however. The natural trails off the rangeley softened up a bit. Peachy's and Smelt skied pretty well considering. Definitely firm, but enough loose stuff to make it fun.

Groomers of the day were the Devils and Silver Doctor. Sugary snow mostly. Tight line skied pretty well from the top... while Supervisor was pretty chunky.

We need 1 more dump followed by no rain then bring on the spring skiing! Saddleback is all primed for a good spring.

Their website blog says they are going to stay open on weekends through May. Very cool.

We skied Saddleback on Saturday. Pretty much the same as what you mentioned. Very foggy and poor visibility most of the day but did get a couple brief breaks where you could see down an entire trail later in the afternoon.

Very wet and the lack of skiier traffic (they were closed Friday and I think most upper mtn lifts were closed Thursday?) made for tough conditions. The glades were offline as was essentially anything that hadn;t seen a groomer. We did attempt Jane Craig but just too wet w/o the benefit of tracks to break up the crust/manky-ness.

Tightline was prob ROTD for us....the bumps towards the bottom on skiier's right should set up well for the spring.
Very nice to see the 'Back is going to make a run for it until May.....certainly the NW exposure and high elevation really plays in their favor. I'd imagine they will be running the Rangeley up, have Green Weaver down to the quad and then spin that and see how long the snow holds on Tightline/Supervisor, etc.?

Having the yurt there is a nice strategic advantage as people can stay up top all day.
It's certainly still deep up there so snow pack retention should be good.
