We're in NH for the week, and conditions are fantastic everywhere. We skied Burke Saturday the 19th, things were quite firm in the morning but edgeable, then the sun warmed things up, the snow got soft, it was phenomenal. Everything is open, but the stuff in the trees never really softened up.
Sunday we used some vouchers we had for Bretton Woods, it was another sunny day with incredible views of Mt. Washington, and excellent conditions, classic Bretton grooming. We went back on Tuesday the 22nd, they had a good 4 inches of powder, and we were finding untracked stuff up until 2:00 in the afternoon. It's a mellow mountain but we love it when there's new snow.
Monday the 21st we drove over to Stowe and skied for a couple of hours in a mid-winter-type blizzard. Really windy and snowing, so we left early for the drive home.
Wednesday the 23rd we skied Wildcat for the first time. We wanted to hit it on a sunny day to catch the views, and there were some clouds hanging over the summit of Washington, but we still had spectacular views all day long. The snow was unbelievable, they're reporting 11 inches in the past few days, and it looks it. We couldn't have asked for a better day of skiing here.
Hoping to get back to Burke on Saturday, and use the last of our Bretton vouchers tomorrow. Legs needed a day off today, unfortunately. It was clear and sunny this morning and probably would have been a great day to ski Cannon. It did cloud up and start snowing later. We drove down to Waterville Valley for a recon mission, we've never skied there. It looks like it would be fun for a day, and we talked to someone leaving the mountain around 2:00 who said they'd gotten about 4 inches of snow today. We're in Bethlehem, NH and it's snowing here now.
We had been hoping conditions would hold out up here because we knew we'd be up this week, and we have been thrilled. What a great week so far. We didn't need all the light clothing we brought, it's been more like mid-winter or at least early March instead of late March. If you're thinking about skiing this weekend, come on up, everything is great.
