Please post no flames or nasty political commentary. We all know that 9/11 was a terrible day for all of us and the subsequent war is going badly in many repsects (this coming from a Republican who still supports W). AZ.com is not about politics and we are not going to solve this problem here on this website. One thing I'd like to avoid is offending any members or visitors who may have lost loved ones by cheapening their sacrifice with political squabbling, so let's please have none of that.

So no flames on W (you can flame Osama bin Laden all you want) or political stuff. How about your personal remembrances and what you took away from that day.

The only flame I have to offer - and please don't think this is a politcal statement..
Is - if you don't want polical commentary - then why the 100 word discertation? You make it seem like Liberal Dems like me are laying in wait - ready to pounce - which we are not. And that in and of itself is a political statment..
It's almost like your taunting me and frankly I find it patronizing and disgusting.....
Rest assured I have no intentions of getting drawn into a political battle with the AZone moderators again...

So on that note - it was a horrible day... I lost friends... I moved away from the city because of it... Dork survived as did many of my friends and I consider that a blessing..
Also - a friend of mine had his first child yesterday... He was upset and I told him not to worry - "it's just your way of taking the day back..."

Those friggin' little Allah-worshipping camel drivers are always angry about somethin'!

FYI:
The Muslim guy I work with is pretty pissed by this statement... He's normally a pretty happy guy until someone insults his religion...

I'll be honest, d. I think you're overreacting here. I don't see anything in Bill's comments that suggest he's baiting liberals. Perhaps the only comment he made that could be interpreted in that way was him mentioning that he still supports Bush, but I think he's probably only stating that because he feels that he's in the minority there now. I also think it's a bit pretentious for you to think that he's baiting you specifically. Get over yourself and don't take everything so personal.

I agree. Racist comments are not necessary.

If you don't want to talk about politics - then just don't..... It's that easy... I would've said - "please lets keep this non-political" and that's it!!! 'nuff said... Anythig else just smells like chastizing...

I make no apologies for my statement.. And stand by it... the conservative moderators can talk amongst themsleves now...

I have to say, the greatest disservice to those who died, their families, and everyone else affected is that 5 years later they're still bickering over what's going to be built on the site. Bringing America together, my lily white arse. It's pretty dispicable that the planners and involved parties can't put their individual agendas aside and make an agreement.

If we want to show the terrorists that we respect our dead and don't give a fig for their agendas, we should have the tallest building in the world 1/2 completed on that site by now.

Interesting listening to rebroadcasts of news from 911 ... Howard Stern had a rebroadcast of the one year anniversary - Guiliani was on and talking about the buildings that were planned.. I think that was 10 plans ago...

I see your point. I think Bill's disclaimer was probably made in an effort to circumvent the most probable way this thread would/could go political, i.e. somebody using it as an opportunity to express views against the War and/or the Administration. But, I do agree he could have reiterated the non-political policy here without specifically stating that. But in his defense, I'm sure that he didn't type that OP thinking to himself, "ha ha ha - this will really get dmc going..."

Thanks.. Intentional or unintentional - when it comes to emotional days and events that may have polictics attatched to them - it IS a good thing to just be brief with moderator warnings because it is an emotional thing(911) for many (if not all) of us...

You should always be aware that every time I see a post sway to the political side - I am always ready to pounce... To either give my political opionion or go after moderators for giving their political opionion... I'm an activist - it's tough for me not to do so.. It's how I roll - like it or not..

I'm always civil...

So - back on topic...
Yesterday - I was driving the NJTP from Philly to Stamford CT and I glanced at the skyline a few times...
Wierd thing is - at first glance - I ALWAYS see the towers to this day... The skyline is just so ingrained in my head that for that brief moment - they are still there...

thanks for the well wishes...

After looking over the story again, I have to add aftermath #4 - I now work on floor 48 of a 52 story building. I guess "no more tall buildings for me" went out the window.. Or maybe it's my way of saying FU to the terrorists...

dmc - I meant no disrespect to anyone with my disclaimer. As Greg said, I intended it to try to defuse any destructive political dialogue that would cheapen the sacrifices made that day. In no way did I even think of you or anyone else of a differing political position when writing it.

My point was to acknowledge (possibly for the first time) that even we conservatives must admit that the war is going badly, W and his cronies are handling it badly, and those facts are pretty evident and accepted by all - and therefore - there's no need to focus on the political stuff if we are all already in agreement. Let's focus on the awfulness of the day itself and pull together again. In a really unfortunate way, that's the single beneficial thing that came out of it and one thing I actually miss about the immediate aftermath of 9/11.

dmc - personally, having a political soapbox to beat on could be a lot of fun, but this isn't the place and my activist days are over. I no longer have much motivation to convince anyone that my way or any way is the right way. Since my kids were born and I am now the proud owner of a multi-six-figure mortgage, my political interests largely end at the end of my driveway. Nothing personal meant by anything on this thread - Peace.

Whatever - no disrespect felt - no explaination needed.
Just realize that because you consider things are status quo for you doesn't mean everyone else is happy.. I felt the same exact way when Clinton was president - was never happier in my life..
