I take it from the report they decided not to open Friday? How about Heavens Gate any chance it will be open this weekend? Still a good amount of snow up there based on today's sat map

0 chance...

Webcams show lots of bare spots on OG, RC, Jester.

Free skiing on weekend. Expect it to be busy....and raining, again, though Saturday morning looks ok.

I got up here last night around 9pm. They were working spring fling until the wee hours of the morning so I would say they are planning on opening that. As for HG, there is no snow on downspout, jester or HG travers so no way they are opening that. I don't understand why they would not open today after making everything ready to go last night. Also the weather looks good most of the day. Open the f-ing lifts. This spring has been shitty enough for us.

It is literally raining right now on the webcams with low clouds. If today was going to be a nice sunny spring day, it would perhaps make sense to open. But with showers and thunderstorms in the forecast I don't see any logical reason to open today.

Todays forecast doesn’t look too bad - much better than the forecast for tomorrow and Sunday

I guarantee Win would have opened up today, corporate ownership sucks.

That's a weird guarantee considering that I can find no record of Win doing that under his own ownership. I looked all the way back to 2010 and any time they made it to May, it was always Saturday and Sunday only with an exception of extending to Monday one year (but that year May 1st was a Monday, so that was purely to hit May).

I was up at 7 and out on my deck haveing coffee at 7:30. It may have sprinkled a little but by 8 there was nothing. there was some fog half way up valley house but it burned off by 10 when the lift would have opened and right now it is sunny and 60. Perfect in my book.

Did you manage to get a picture in the 5 minute span it was sunny? LOL. Looking at the Plaza Web Cam history, there have been low clouds and/or rain at every 30 minute interval I looked back at.

Here's the plaza webcam view at 10, 10:30, 11, and 11:30:

I don't see these conditions drawing a crowd that would make it worth opening. Considering there's no precedent either, it was odd that they even suggested they might. I think they were hoping for a true bluebird spring day to make up for all the lackluster weekend days. When they didn't see that in the forecast, they scrapped the idea. I really can't see how anyone can fault that at this point. As is they're lasting longer than most. And yet they're still getting flack!

Says the guy that has stopped skiing. LOL Today is way better than the last 4 saturdays. there may have been a few sprinkles but that is it. They deserve flack. As a loyal pass holder, today it a great day for skiing. Tomorrow they unleashed the masses with free skiing and it is going to rain. I piss on that.

Again...zero precedent so expecting them to open today on a Friday in May with anything short of a perfect forecast is just odd...

Maybe I'm wrong, but I also don't think "free skiing" is going to unleash the masses either at this point. We'll see.

They just desided to say f-it. Everybody skies for free. My tolerance tomorrow is going to be low if I am waiting in line in the rain. Just saying.

You and @Hawk would know a lot better than I would, but like you said, I'd highly doubt that the masses show up. For Sugarbush's sake, I hope they do and I hope they buy a ton of food and beverages. But I'd be stunned.

Historically what has closing weekend looked like? I would think it's just the die hards at that point. Ski for two hours, party in the courtyard for 2 hours. Take a nap and then enjoy dinner.
