I only have a dozen or so posts over there but liked lurking and reading the posts. Interesting group of indiviuals and good VT reporting.

Well I took a look today....the place has gone NUTS! Its crazy what happens when the lunatics run the asylum. I know Andy Zee posts here and he has got to get a handle on things over there. I will not bring up the site from work anymore as the language will block and flag me.

Greg.......keep up the great work on this site! Civil conversations (even when we disagree) and an well run forum!

Keep it up!!!

I used to lurk there everyone once in a while, but just can't take it anymore. Sure TGR has crap like that but atleast they have awesome TR's and ton of great knowledge in Tech Talk.

Lots more good stuff at TGR, agreed. Also lots more NSFW stuff.

I hit kzone a little more than alpinezone just because i consider killington to be my home mountain and I have always had a connection with the place. Alpinezone does a good job of staying on topic but kzone can have threads about management, history or terrain that wouldnt work here.

With that said I only click on the posts at kzone that have to do with the mountain, weather, history, conditions etc. The daily reports in the winter get me through the work week, but I dont even bother clicking on the threads that are obviously personal and there is atleast one poster whose threads I never click. I dont see a nsfw problem at kzone.

I have only been to tgr or epic a few times, I never find threads that interest me.

i do not browse or participate at KZone, but i would never judge any forum by september and october usage. lots of people suffering from withdrawal and getting into arguements that probably wouldn't happen any other time of the year when folks are out skiing all weekend. happens here too, no ski forum is exempt to pre-season tension. not as bad here as else where though.

I do post on Epic. Lots of good knowledge especially out west. TGR I check once a week or so...again good western info. K-Zone used to be very entertaining but everyone's fighting or wanting someone to be killed ;) (pretty humerous actually). Crazy stuff and it needs to be cleaned up a bit.

This site is the BEST. Even the arguments are civil and info is top notch. I check in weekly in the summer and every day in the fall/winter/spring.

Bring on the snow baby!!! Something we can ALL agree on...

Thanks for your comments, gores95. The thing that makes AZ so special though is you and how you treat each other and make for great conversation! Our biggest asset is you.

Don't want to drag stuff from there to this site, so I will just say, there are reasons for everything and not everything is as it looks on the surface.

I post on It on both. I think its fair to say the K board is k focused. I also think they are sort of in between TGR and AZ. (I stole that explantion).

I also think that any North East board with out Killington posters would not be a well rounded.

Some very cool people on K-zone, very welcoming to our group at outings. Dork, Ty and AndyZee lead the freindly bunch in that activity.

Rusty k has been freindly as have others. Geoff and skiadikt have been good cross posters as well. Bubba has helped exchange information back and forth. I''m sure I missed some but only takes a few a get a negitive vibe.

All the people I have met are great. There are some activities over there I stay away from.
I don't have a thick enough skin to get into everything over there. I prefer not having to argue about skiing. I prefer to just enjoy it. I did post on the K board when Asc still had involvement.

It's pretty much a predictable pattern. During the offseason it always degrades into flame wars, etc. Thats one of the reasons Killington decided to kick it.

Like BobR said - it's sort of in between here and TGR. We _try_ to stay hands off and let the kids have their sandbox and only step in during extreme circumstances. Of course even when we step in we get criticized for not being fair, etc. Its a no-win situation and somebody is always gonna be pissed off.

Thats why in some respects being heavy handed on the moderation works better - at least people know what to expect and accept it.

TGR works in a different way - they basically have no moderation but have a large tight community that self polices. They also have _very_ thick skins.

To each his own.

It definately is to each their own. I think when you post there you know what your in for. The mods make it clear how it will be handled. Same good people, just handling things different.

Virus Alert!

Hey Andyzee. I just clicked on the link to "Killington Access" that you have on your posting, and immediately got hit by a "Trojan Virus Warning." My McAfee virus scan program intercepted it and cleaned it up, but now I am going to have to do full scan to make sure there wasn't anything else. Just a "heads up."

I don't really post there anymore due to a really nasty moderator named ShortSki that taunted me with images of a guy in Iraq being beheaded while my brother was over ther serving... I told him it bothered me but he kept at it while accusing me on not supporting our troops...

I banned him but moderators can't be banned there so I just don't go there anymore...

Although someone told me he hasnt been around lately.. So I did posted a couple times last week - I have a few friends over there.....

Generally it's cool... But there's people like ShortSki that I just hate and won't tolerate...

Definitely a weird vibe over there lately. More than just the pre-season grumpiness, I think. I sometimes try to add something of value over there and often times get flack for it and accused of shilling AZ. It's just not worth the effort. I much prefer a civil and friendly vibe. That other stuff is just not me, but to each his own. As SkiDork said, you can't please everyone.
