choked when I read that. My take ( since no one asked) is that those of us who want early turns will just go to K-Mart. Most of us would be much more concerned if it wasn't for Ikon and the 7 days we get at places that are serious about snow making. Always a fiscal and supply risk with early snow, limited water and power, given deep thaws that 8 out f 10 x happen before or during Christmas.Whoever said Sugarbush has world-class snowmaking capacity? LOL
Hard to believe that was 1993. I was sick that day, five good friends were with him. It was a devastating day for all involved. They put a bronze memorial plaque up there the next summer. Wonder if it's still there?View attachment 66723
Hope these guys don't come to grief like the guy who crashed on a waterbar 15-20 years ago before they had any mm snow on it and broke his neck...
On the Gadd cam you can just see the top of GH. Also Golf Course cam, but it’s down.If they started with GH terrain as they claimed to want to do...there's really no angle camera operational at the moment that would show that. (Granted if the temps on their website are accurate, I'd be expecting them to be making snow
They are notAnyone know if the guns are firing at sugarbush?
I have loved here nearly 40 years. I don't remember a sports bar. The Den was as close at we got to that, I think? they had football games on a TV or two, but not exactly a sports barRe food/drink discussion: They valley really, really needs a full time, regular/sports bar open 7 days a week. Open doors at 5pm, close 12 am and 2 am weekends. Though I guess the last one like that was run out of town by the state police?
MrGlen, It appears that you may have not been on a part of this community over the last 15 years like some of us. Yes they have upgraded some things but the snowmaking system at sugarbush has a long way to go. There are still vast sections of leaky piping to fix and water and air are still issues that need expanding. Look at what they can to an any given day. They can blow only one loop total and most would say that the snow they blow is still too wet. Other mountains can blow several loops of quality snow. Nope what you are saying sounds more like the company line. Sorry.Yeah, they’ve only spent millions upgrading pumps, lines, and guns over the last decade. Must’ve been for decoration, right? Maybe the HKDs are just lawn ornaments and the new compressors are part of some avant-garde art exhibit called “Waiting for Winter.”
The issue isn’t capacity, it’s execution. Sugarbush could blow snow like Killington if they actually wanted to. Instead, we get the annual tradition of pretending Gate House opening is some kind of historic achievement while the rest of the mountain sits there looking like early October.

Wow, that's less than I thought. Little Bromley pumps 3,000 GPM.........The maximimum capacity at LP is only some 3500 gpm. This pales in comparison to what Killington and stowe can pump.
