What is the consensus choice for the best one or two ski shops in the Killington area? I searched AZ for this topic but couldn't fnd anything so I thought I'd start a thread.

I was at K yesterday and stopped into Basin, Northern Ski Works and Aspen East. I'm sure there are other good ones. Basin seemed to have the most product offerings (although no Volkls) and a good bootfitting department (just from appearances, not actual fitting experience). Northern appeared to also have a good bootfitting dept. Aspen East seemed to have the best prices (definitely cheaper than Basin on the same equipment) along with a good selection.

What's your opinion for the best shop at K for:

1) Bootfitting
2) Buying skis
3) Tuning and repairs
4) Soft goods like jackets, clothing, etc.

Where, exactly in his post did he say that Basin wasn't a good shop?

Looks to me he's just pointing out the fact that they had a good selection despite the absense of what is STILL a rather popular brand of ski. I really can't find the part where he claims that they're no good.

For you...

I agree with Paul on this one. I never said Basin was not a good shop. In fact, I think it's one of the best at K (at least that I visited).

I pointed out the lack of Volkls because I'm looking at buying a pair of Volkl Mantras at some point. I also believe that Volkls are a damn fine ski line. They may not be "hot" but they are good skis. Several shop owners that I respect have told me that top-to-bottom, Volkl offers the best line of skis with the most product choices that are leaders in their category. The Supersports, the AC line and their powder/freeride (Mantra, Karma & Gotama) skis are among the best skis out there in their categories.
