Resort: Mount Snow

Conditions: packed powder, decent coverage, sunny and some flurries early in the day.

Trip Report:

I do have to say I am quite impressed with Mount Snow. I started at 11:00am this morning. I made the mistake of parking at Carinthia and thinking Long John or Deer Run was opened to ski over to the main mountain. I did two runs at Carinthia and took the shuttle over to the main mountain.

The first lift up I took the Canyon quad and skied down the Canyon run. Snow guns were going. Coverage was good. It felt like mid winter skiing.

I took the trail from the top of the Canyon lift down to the North Face lift. Plenty of snow on the trail.

Chute was opened and bumped up. I just picked up my new boots on Friday and had decided to take my “rock” skis, Salamon 1080s. Well, to sum it up, new boots make a big difference! I took several runs here. I did not hit any icy patches, the bumps that were there were spaced perfectly, and there were only a few boarders / skiers on it while I was there.

I did alternate and do a couple of top to bottom runs from the Summit Express. It was a great first day of the season for me.

Agreed. And no slick spots to boot? That cover on chute last Monday seemed like it wasn't at all dense so the rain probably drained right through it. Top coat it with a bit more snowmaking and we're in Shaeffer City again! I almost want to take another run back up there before the month is out...

In reality, it probably isn't in the cards. Gonna have to wait for Huntah a week from tomorrow.
