Date(s) Skied: Saturday, 12/1/2007, 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Resort or Ski Area: Mohawk Mountain, Connecticut

Conditions: Hardpack, LSGR. Clear, cold, no wind.

Trip Report: Arrived at Mohawk a bit before 7 pm. After I got my lift ticket, I was flagged down by MRGisevil and Mr. Evil who were taking a break in the lodge. We all headed out together. Conditions were good. Mostly edgeable hard pack with some loose stuff on top. It was cold tonight in the teens, but the wind from earlier today mellowed out so it was rather pleasant.

We just lapped Arrowhead and Nutmeg which is about 500 vertical feet. Coverage was good, not quite side-to-side, but the section that was covered had plenty of snow. They were blowing a lot of snow on Wildwood and at the base.

It was a good chance for me to try out the Legends which I love. Solid ski. Can be calm and reassuring if you want them to be, or can become pretty lively if you let them rip. I enjoyed making a number of different turn shapes on them, but mostly enjoyed firing off quick snappy turns which they did well with. The Legend deserves the praise it gets.

The company on the lift was great. Made the night seem to go by rather quick. I probably would have blown out of there after a few hours otherwise, but we went right until closing. The Evils are good people. Both very solid skiers too. Thanks for the company, guys! See you at Sundown this season.

I should mention I was only able to grab one pic tonight of Mr. Evil before my batteries died, but MRGisevil grabbed some vid.

Great opening night!

Sorry we missed you Cj!

Greg, we had a great time. And man, your quick turns are awesome. I'm definately spending a few nights on the bumps at Sundown this season!

Vid is up, quality isn't all that great (sorry, digital camera movie...)

Greg,
It was really nice to meeting you last night! Randi (MRGisevil) and I had a great time skiing with you. Sorry about the bad photo opp I gave you. I did know your were taking pictures. I saw that you stopped on the side if the trail so I though I would stop and give you some company. For those that can't tell that is a picture of me stopping.

Next time bring some spare batteries, and maybe you will be lucky enough to capture one of my massive wipe outs with you camera. For those of you that were there last night, that giant snow ball sliding down the hill head first on his back at 30 mph around 8:00pm (with a encore performance at 9:00pm) was me.

For those that haven't skied with Greg yet, the man kicks a$$. Randi and I are both looking forward to Hunter Mt. on the 14th.

Thanks, but trust me. There are many AZers that are far more accomplished skiers than I am...

Hunter 12/14 is going to be fun.
