I've been purchasing more and more on line. Ofcourse, one concern is guarentees, especially when it comes to clothes. I recently purchase a pair of mountaineering boots from www.Sierratreadingpost.com . At first I was concerned about what would happen if they don't fit, it's a tough thing to buy on line, so I checked out their satisfaction guarentee and was pleasantly suprised. You can find it here, actually kind of interesting, http://www.sierratradingpost.com/lp2/Guarantee.html .

I did purchase the boots, the end of March, wore them every chance I got to get used to them before I hiked up Mt. Washington, they felt good. Then this past weekend, I hiked up Mt.Washington, only to find the the boots were too loose and caused blisters on my heels. Well after getting them all covered with mud and snow and dirt, I decided to return them. The only loss was a $5+ charge for shipping, but I ordered another pair of the same boot that was smaller, shipping on this was free since I used the credit from the old one. To this point, I have not yet send the old one back, but did get credit on them already since I generated an RMA. To top things off, I got a better price on the shoes this time around, so I came out ahead about $3. Steepandcheap.com also has a lifelong guarentee.

I wonder if the problem was the size of the boots, or the 3,786lbs on your back! ;)

Got mountaineering boots which I'm not used to. They're almost as stiff as skiing boots. I wore them around town to get used to them and everything seemed fine. After hiking Washington and getting the blisters, I figured they were too big. I tried sticking my finger between the heel and boot and my finger fit with no problem. Boot too big. :)

Wow! I can't bring myself to order clothing over the internet, but this story makes me think anything is possible.

That story is crazy for giving you full credit for a pair of boots you used to hike up and down Mt. Washington.

Guarentees such as this one make me feel better about ordering online. You don't see something like this often and that's why I figured it was worthwhile pointing out.
