Back on my good list...

Spent hours vacuuming them up when they invaded the house in early spring..... Was out to kill them all..

Last week I noticed one the bushes in the garden was full of aphids.. I read Ladybugs would kill them.. Didn't see any... thought maybe i did kill them all... But sure enough they showed up and cleaned the plant of millions of aphids... They are in the larvae state... black with read spots... cool...

another cool thing is there were ants around and apparently they milk the aphids for juice...

Ladybugs are great pest controllers.
Not a very good movie, though.

Heh...ladybugs invade the Cats in the summer, the breeding ground for aphids.

My father was yelling at me the other day that I shouldn't put out bird feed because it attracts rodents. Then I pointed out the fully grown brown hawks that are nesting in a tree on my property. The mice go for the bird seed and it keeps them in one spot so they are easy pickings. The ones that survive the day get picked off by the 2 owls who patrol at night. Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I've never had a mouse in my house.

Here in NW NJ, bird feeders come in with the onset of warming weather in the spring. Otherwise the black bear trash the bird feeders in the want for oiled sunflower seed.

We can't put bird feeders up in warm weather either... The bears will eat the apples, blackberrys, mushrooms and wild grapes growing in the yard...

But we sure do have a lot of birds... Haven't seen the hummingbirds yet... love those things... so do the cats...

My sister had a real bear problem when she lived up near Sparta NJ...

Any movie with Rodney Dangerfield is good.

Also I moved to NW NJ in January and I discovered a couple of weeks ago not to put the trash out the night before, a bear spread two of the bags all over my driveway, and it was back the next evening looking for more.

We gave up on bird feeders after the first 2 or 3 were trashed by the squirrels. We just chuck it on the ground in a designated area in the back near the stream on my property.

It rarely lasts the afternoon between the blue jays, orioles, doves, crows, cardinals, and especially the mallards that toddle up from the stream.

I've seen a bear only once on my property for about 5 seconds. Frankly, the copperheads that are fairly common are more of a problem.
