When Tiger is playing mediocre, he seems to pull his magic putter out of his hat and pulls off some amazing putts. Since I won't be watching this until I get home from work, I'll just imagine that he's just being Tiger.

As for Rocco, I'd be just as happy if he pulls it out. I'm all for good golf, no matter which one ends up on top.

Spoiler for those who don't know, someone wearing a red shirt won. Caveat, they both wore red shirts today

My golf with my Dad today was up and down. Drove the ball really well all day. Medicore iron play at best. Putted well, but couldn't get any long putts to drop even though 7 putts of 10+ feet burned the cup. Finished with a 78 including 35 puttts( )

I got home, got my popcorn, sat down and was all enthralled with the game, when............they said, go to NBC for the remaining 9 holes. ARGH!!!!!!
In my haste this morning, I didn't check to see if it was going to switch over, and then it went into sudden death and I totally missed that!!!!

When did I morph?
I was the girl who thought watching golf was like watching Jello Set, and now I'm bummed that I messed up with the DVR.

Altho Woods is a fanatastic talent --------Who's to say ? Altho i'm a big fan of his and he is One of the great one's, The Best ever is very debateable.

By way of example He 'll need to finish in the TOP TEN finishers IN EVERY TOURNAMENT scheduled UNTIL the year 2019 until he reaches Nicklaus ' record of 73 top ten finishes.
BTW -that WAS mentioned TODAY

That's in MAJORS only. And frankly the way Tiger plays in majors, would anyone be suprised if he did this??? And BTW, he'd still be 44 then which would be younger than Nicklaus

In addition Remember there has been TREMENDOUS advances in Equipment and a rabbit ball and 460 degree MONSTER size drivers and all kinds of Shafts, Monster size putters and on and on. I wonder what he might have done in the early decades of the game 20's with the equipment then available and the course conditions etc

So IMHO its extremely difficult to make any OBJECTIVE comparisons

The overall level of the ENTIRE field has also improved alot since then too. Rarely, nowadays do you hear about the accolades of late night tour drinking events (okay John Daly excluded) like was the norm for a good chunk of the tour back in the Nicklaus heyday.

Lastly, I really dislike all the commentators that are maybe a 30 handicap on their best day saying that Tiger and his left knee are a wimpy injury. If you actually look at his swing and how he rotates and torques that left knee on contact as his weight transfers to his left side(unlike most of the 30 handicappers with a microphone whose weight goes back to their right side and STAYS there), you'd see how that left knee plays a HUGE part for him. Frankly I wouldn't be suprised if we see a press release from the Tiger camp in the next 48 hours that his jet made a detour to Utah on the way back to Florida and that he got his knee re-opened by the orthopod that did the work 6 weeks ago.

Right now based on his interview post round and how things looked this weekend with his knee, I'd say he's at best 50/50 for the British Open in about a month, better chance for the PGA in mid August and questionable for the Ryder Cup in September. That knee may very well need a major repair and an extended and extensive rehab.

I'm sure he was hurting but realistically Golf is neither a Contact or Collision sport.
MANY "contact or collision " sports athletes compete with serious injuries . That said : Woods played very well under the circumstances and deserved to win.

Rocco played very well too and had his chance , the door was open but he just couln't drain that putt on the 18th
