They should, but I'm a firm believer of picking your battles and I try hard not to sweat the little things in life. At the end of the day, it probably will not increase your wait time more than a chair, if that. Calling them out on it will only stress you out and teach them nothing. An asshole is an asshole. You just have to trust that karma will do its work.

If it is a one time thing and they are polite about it, I don't sweat it. Its not worth getting all upset over. But if it happens often or they are assholes about it I will speak up.

I hate line cutting ..call it a Navy thing. My boat was an aircraft carrier and the wait in line for chow was usually 45 minutes .. A individual lower rank than me , I was a Petty Officer and he wasn't, cut in front of me and I had been waiting 30 minutes already. I tapped him on the shoulder and informed him his place was at the end of the line. he started to give me crap when I told to either move his ass to the back of the line or I was moving to move for him to the brig ..

Actually there is no such thing as karma and add god to that list also .. just people who need an excuse to let over people get away with sh!t until those people feel entitled to their inconsiderate ways.. kind of like the mass driver who feels entitled to speed and is flashing his lights behind you as you are already doing 10 over the limit .. I'm not moving over ..

and yes... the queues do suck... In fact shocking comes to mind..

No change there. Short story. 2 Italian men were pushing through the line and they knocked over a little girl. Dad was a very big man. 2 Italians didn't make it to the front. Dad picked each one of them up and threw them out of the lift line. Moral of the story. If your going to be the hole of a, check for windage.

The blatant line cutter will always get shouted down,” Get back to the end of the line asshole”, “What are you special or something?”, but how about the polite lift line cutter?

The guy who says, “Excuse me can I get up with my friends?” then makes his way throw a bunch of people to get there. Everybody seems ok with that. My take is why can’t the friend(s) move off to the side and wait for him?

I remember Xmas week at WF about 4 kids making there way through the gondi line to get to 2 friends way in the front. They said excuse me and all that, but they where a pain in the ass making their way through. People seemed annoyed, but no one said anything including me.

Now if those same 4 kids skied down and tried to duck under the rope there would have been hell to pay. There seems to be an unwritten rule that if you have at least one friend further along in line then you it’s ok for any number of friends to cut by those in front to get to them.

I don’t like it, the friends should wait. What’s your take?

Unless its only a coupla people into the line, the friends should just get in line with everyone else and meet at the top of the lift and time themselves a little better the next run down. It's not as if they can't share another gondi ride that day or whatever needs to be said or done can't wait 10 minutes. The only exception is if there's tots involved and somehow got separated from a parent/guardian.

Generally speaking, since it's usually pretty rare to have lift line cutters, I don't care when it happens, especially if the lift is a high-capacity one like a gondola or something.

More specifically, I think if one straggler is just trying to catch up with his buddies, cool, whatever. If it's like a group of four trying to reach another group of four, or something like that, it kind of sucks and is annoying, but I'm not going to say anything if those people only do it once in front of me.

I ski to have a good time, and I try not to let lift lines get to me.

I don't know, I think Euros get a bum rap with lift lines. I've skied a few times in Europe and haven't had any problems at all. Maybe a dude ran over my skis or something, but the same thing can happen here.

Now, lines at airports in Europe? That's another story....

I don't know (or can't imagine) where you skied in Europe that the lift lines were organized and well mannered, but I've skied in Europe quite a bit and it can be a challenge not to get enraged. It seems the closer you get to Italy the worse it gets. And once you're there well... it's every man for themselves.
