Is that supposed to be a good thing? Wouldn't a Swiss or Austrian ski instructor be preferred?

Yes, but the ad specifically mentions british ski instructors like they're more desirable than other instructors.

Well...don't they like...not have snow in England? I have British friends who've said they've never actually SEEN snow. Perhaps it's what part of the country you're in.

When I was teaching at Smuggs we had a Britt who was one kickass skier. Technically speaking the guy was truly flawless---I'm talkin' dev team type skier. I got to know Dale quite well and after many, many conversations (mostly drunken) about this I came to a couple conclusions. First is, they practice on plastic slopes (i never have), but according to him (and i can see how this is true) there is no room for error on the plastic. If your weighting, balance, timing, speed, whatever isn't spot on your going down. Get that action on snow where there is some "wiggle room" and it's a thing of beauty. Second is, chix dig it.....can you say seconds:spin:

I think most of the Brits that ski go over to the "Continent" to ski in Switzerland, Austria, France, etc. The Royal family skis at Cloisters, Switzerland I believe.

Not a lot of great terrain on the British Isles although I seem to remember a Ski Magazine article a couple of years ago about a ski resort in Scotland.

Is it for a resort in the Alps? British tourists might prefer a lesson from another Bangers and Mash eating wanker.

I'm referring to the Verbier Ski school ads that have been very persistent at the top of AZ for weeks. I can see language being a draw and yes if they're as skilled as the locals thats great. I just think it's funny that British ski instructors are being touted for a Swiss ski resort.

A common language separated by an ocean

What I meant to say was: Were the lessons being given in France, Germany, Switzerland etc? That would make the presence of a native English speaking instruction more appealing to a Brit or American.

That's my understanding as well. I guess there's a few ski areas in the UK, but they don't get a ton of snow. The dry land type areas seem to be pretty popular though. The British skiers that I've met (only a few) did most of their skiing in other countries.

Yes, in the Scottish Highlands. This might be why they're so good http://www.snowsphere.com/scotland/of-lochs-and-lines-skiing-the-scottish-highlands

I'll take a hot chick with a thick brogue over a thick cockney accent.
