I've been known to alter while skiing. I don't like getting trashed, just a puff or a slow steady beer buzz. Skiing wasted to me is not very fun.

I really don't care for skiing while buzzed. I definitely used to drink a fair amount of beers tailgating at Stowe when I lived there, but after the third or fourth I wouldn't ski. Mind you those three or four beers were over the course of a few hours. Ski hard from 8:30 to 11:30 then have a beer, do three runs, have another beer, do two runs, have another beer, due one run.....screw it I'm ready for the Matterhorn or during the spring fire up the hibachi in the parking lot.

kinda like that

Now, if at all, one maybe two beers in the lodge at lunch.

I'm with Moe and carry a flask, but not every time I go out. Mostly on bluebird days or after a decent accumulation when the conditions rock. Mostly schnapps, but sometime I'll have a mixed drink. The key for me is, the more I drink, the more lame of a skiier I become, hitting green cruisers where I'm less likely to get in trouble.

I often bring a couple of beers to the mountain. Some days I drink them at lunch time. Some days I don't.

I don't drink more than that until spring. I'm a dedicated lifelong spring skiing tailgater. After noon on a Saturday, I crank up the BBQ and it's basically drink, run, drink, run, drink, run.... until last chair. Sometimes it's beer. Sometimes it's cuervo/grand marnier margaritas. Sometimes it's bloody marys. The exercise burns off enough of the alcohol that I reach equilibrium around 2:00.

I like skiing with a buzz but only a few times a season..mainly gaper day..I don't feel like I ski that much worse when I'm drinking but that might be my perception..the thing that sucks the most is constantly having to pee.

After a safety meeting..I feel like I ski just fine,..

Safety meetings are where I'm at. That gets me in the groove fo sho... just like dancing. I'm not talking about wakin bacon or anything like that, but after a couple warm up runs... a nice toke and some serious rippin.

Oh and as far as drinking goes... I save that for the end of the day.

Agreed. . . though I'm taking a break from the beer. Have trouble limiting it-- sort of all or nothing. Anyway, if it's the end of the day the last thing patrol wants to deal with is hauling someone off the hill who's had too much to drink. Save that for the bar. At 4:00 the mountain's closed period. Time to get off the hill, let patrol sweep and not lolligag around. Mountain Ops workers have lives too and it's not too smart to dick around on the mountain after the lifts close, trails are swept, and groomers are headed out.

I get way too lazy when I drink. I'll have one or two at the most during a lunch. I do hit the flask for a blast of warmth from time to time though. I'm thinking about stashing some in the woods for the last run per DMC's suggestion...

Never before or during, but on Saturdays at Camelback, after changing into street clothes I usually hit the parking lot for a mini tailgate till 4:00 then the bar where the band cranks up till 7, then back to the house for nightcaps. On the road we usually hit the mountain bar for 1 or 2 before dinner then crashing. As the years pass having more trouble going out later in the evening for dancing etc., maybe once a season, just too tired.

Absolutely. I ski better after a beer or two. It helps me relax and loosen up a bit, and is particularly helpful for me in the bumps.

Don't get me wrong, I don't go out and get totally destroyed then ski, but I feel that a couple beers at lunch actually improves my skiing.

I drive better after a couple of beers, too. Especially narrow, winding roads. Yup, that's right.
