Howdy,
Lookin to pick up a pair of A.T. boots and want to try em on, walk around, basically not order them online (unless I can return them SUPER EASY). I can't seem to find any shops in the NY/NJ metropolitan area that carry them.
Anyone know of any?
I'm not opposed to driving 1-2 hours if need be.
On a side note, any A.T. boot advice?
Thanks!

Hickory & Tweed in Armonk NY (north of White Plains) started carrying Black Diamond tele and AT gear this year. Their phone is 914-273-3397. Excellent customer service and bootfitting work.

I wouldn't fret about them just starting out with the BD line, the senior guys in the shop really do know backcountry skiing and gear but the demand for it is just now picking up. In other words, ignore the well intentioned kids on the shop floor doing rental skis ...

I've found both Sierra Trading Post and Backcountry.com exceedingly easy to return stuff. STP... and maybe even BC include a return shipping label ready to go right in the pack.

Otherwise... next time you're up in VT... go to the Outdoor Gear Exchange in Burlington.

Thanks for the help everyone, here's my new touring toys and where I got em.

~Ski's~ K2 Public Enemy (07/08)- brand new $350. I forget the name of the shop but it's up the hill on the right when you come off the NY Thruway on the way to Belleayre mtn, tent sale.

~Bindings~ Marker Duke - new - $450 Backcountry.com (thanks Marc)

~Boots~ Scarpa Tornado - new - $400 - ebay (talked extensively with a backcountry.com guy who helped me figure out boot fit based on my 2 other pairs, fingers crossed)

Can not wait for the snow to fall and my shoulder to heal!
