Week 3 started on MLK day, so the hoards were taking over Pats when Roark and I got there at 5. Ben had already beaten us there. We took a few warm up runs, and I ended up crashing pretty hard and landed my ribs on something in my pocket, probably bruising my ribs. UGH. This didn't prove to be a problem for a few hours thankfully, but today i'm paying for it!

Anyway, onto the races... All the groomers were home for the evening, so the course was a mix of ruts, powdery bumps, and "interesting stuff" I think we must have slipped.. errr. plowed.. the course something like 3 times last night to try and smooth it out a bit. We were all complaining quite a bit about it before we actually ran it, but after running the first set, I was pleasantly surprised at how fast the course was.

I paired with Roark again, and I took the right hand course (yellow). About 3 gates in, he goes up into a cloud of snow. I looked over just in time to see him pop out of the cloud of snow, heading face first down the rest of the slope. Got to the bottom, proceeded to go back up the chair, only to have Roark fall off (who does that!?) His excuse was that his poles were down (to sit on them) and at the wrong angle.. whoops!

The second run went a little smoother for us, but not so much for a few other racers that evening. We witnessed quite a few crashes the second round, including at least one that took out a gate, one that hooked a gate, and a painful looking one that got ejected from the rut on the outside of the turn on his back.

Raw time scores (overall before handicap): Seth 3rd, Ben 8th, Erik 15th, Scott 49th, Kingsley 52nd, myself 57th, Will 63rd

AZ team place: 4th.

+1. I just didn't have it this week. I think all the bumps we skied before the race threw me off.

Wow you are awake early today. Are you getting ready to shave off all that resistance?

I thought it was a fun course. Not my best finish, but I liked running the course. Hopefully I will have recovered from cold be back to my energetic self next week.

Seth smoked the course. He was great pickup for the team.

I'm also thinking of getting there earlier and actually getting up twards the top of the list instead of twards the bottom. So far I've been near the end every week.. What time do you guys go up to register to get on the list earlier?

not that i should judge, but what's up with that last place team? are they skiing with parachutes tied to their backs or something. 2.5 pts a week on average seems kinda ridiculous.

More like 2.4.

I'd like to see you in the gates Mr. Rotary Turn. :uzi:

Don't even. We'll start a CLITS race team and school you guys with untuned bump skis.

LOL! Don't worry about it man. I'm the PROUD holder for the record of last place in each of the last three races! :-D I'm the token newb.

I learned a lot last friday, I was really hoping for a better showing on Monday, but like I said. After seeing a few wipeouts, I had a few lumps in my stomache, and forgot EVERYTHING I'd been working on.

But seriously, there's no offense. I don't even really KNOW the other guys on the newbie team, which is why I always end up signing up as a single. :-D

The only benny is having Vlad give me suggestions in the bar after the races, AND that the company pays for the entirety of the two teams.

See, the only thing I hear after I cross the finish line is..
