i bet the tough guy patrollers @ blue would have blown their whistles and given the bears tickets for destroying mountain property.
Very sad news.
A mother bear and two cubs in Hunter were getting too comfortable with human contact, associating them with food and after several reports of homes being broken into and messed up, someone came home to find them in their kitchen going thorough their cupboards and "chowing down". The NY State DEC (Department of Conservation) was called along with local police departments and the decision was made to "put them down". The conservation officer said that when they get that familiar with humans and display no fear they are very hard if not impossible to rehabilitate and it was best to just put them down. The female officer that was on the scene said it was the most difficult thing she had ever had to do as a police officer.
DMC you know anything more about this? I believe it happened not too far from your home.
That sucks..they should just relocate the Bears..Very sad news.
