I had one day in Jan at K where it was brutal cold...in the minus 20 range and I had stayed out to long (I also knew I should have already gone in) and took a pretty big wipeout (which could have been much worse) because I lost feeling in one foot. I started sliding into the woods and bounced my head off a tree. I also bought a new helmet this summer. I'm hoping the boot heaters help to prevent that from happening again.LOL! I'll do a TR as well! I'm so excited to get those installed. Looking forward to warm feet this year. Not that my feet froze last year...it would just be nice to have them stay "comfortable" on those cold days.

05/06 Nordica Speed Machine 12's. Usually just go with Smartwool Ultra Light or PhD socks. It was nasty cold that day without the windchill.Root,
Just curious, what do you have for boots? What do you wear for socks? Regardless, -20 is hard for the extremities to stay warm.
Speed Machine's are good boots and you have the right socks. At -20 a boot heater is your best bet.05/06 Nordica Speed Machine 12's. Usually just go with Smartwool Ultra Light or PhD socks. It was nasty cold that day without the windchill.
I do all of that, and I even pack a 2nd pair of socks for a mid-day change out. I need sham-wow socks.Speed Machine's are good boots and you have the right socks. At -20 a boot heater is your best bet.
I've heard a lot of good reports about the effectiveness of neoprene boot gloves. I just picked up a pair on close out at the local shop. Someone else would have to say what temp range they are effective in. I probably won't use them until it gets into single digits.
The other things to be aware of are sweat and circulation. Keep your feet dry by changing into your ski socks at the mountain and use an anti-perspirant on your feet. And if your boots are snug, undoing the buckles for the lift ride helps (except a boot glove won't let you do that to the two lower buckles).

Obviously, some of you will be getting some before then.
in years when Killington, SR and SL had the ASC pass I would hit SR and SL up early season on the same day on my way to visit my folks. Boy I miss those days.
