They originally hoped to open Thursday.

OPENING UPDATE (December 7, 2009) ---

We're getting closer.... with Saturday's 4 inches of natural snow and the colder overnight temperatures this weekend, the snow guns are finally in full force. The weather forecast is calling for overnight temperatures to continue in the 20's through most of this week allowing for snowmaking operations to continue almost every night this week.

When temperatures dip into the 20’s, we can progress very quickly and our snowmaking crew will be working around the clock as weather permits building base depths and extending coverage. We are trying to open during the day tomorrow (Tuesday, Dec. 8th).

Nice. If Wawa is able to open on Tuesday, I would think more of the NH places should be able to get open too. But a lot of them are still showing openings on Friday or Saturday. Maybe this will prompt more of them to push the date forward.

Wondering if they're open nights this week. Might sneek out of work early and get some turns in.

Should be open nights right off the bat. They'll definitely be open Thursday night for the race league kick-off party although we'll all prob be in the bar by 7:30.

Wow... they're gonna be the 11th ski area open in New England. Only 6 VT areas, 2 NH areas, and 2 ME areas beat them. Not bad at all.

Going thursday would work for me, but I do not like the look of wednesday's forecast.

Really don't want to hit Wawa on a friday night that's for sure.

Just be sure to have your edges nice and sharp! Thursday will be great.

As for Fridays.....meh. I doubt "this" Friday will be over-crowded.

Last I heard there is supposed to be 6+ tomorrow morning before turning to rain. I might have to take the morning off and see if I can get some Wa pow turns.

the forecast for wa is 5-9 inches of snow before turning to rain. The bulk of the precip will be snow, by the way.

Plus thursday onwards will be excellent snowmaking weather not just for resurfacing but rapid terrain expansion. Personally, I'm hoping 10th mtn trail opens this weekend. I tend to stick to the summit chair and having only a WROD of Conifer does not excite me.

Whatever, I will be there both days. Red volkl jacket, black giro helmet. Line prophets or Fischer RX8s depending on conditions

All depends on what time that snow turns to rain I guess. I'm tempted to drive up and get turns in wednesday AM. I'm itching to go.

I wonder what time they plan on opening tomorrow though...anyone know?

I'm trying to find that out. Opening at noon today. Hope they don't do it again tomorrow. No point if they wait until it starts to rain ...

Funny how I came to Vermont for lots of skiing yet I have to wait 4 more days for my home mountain to open than if I was home. :)

Oh well... only 10 days till I'm back at Wa for a while. At least I'll get a few days at Burke before I have to leave.
