Summer easily wins. Winter has skiing and nothing else. Summer on the hand has the beach, mountain biking, climbing, hiking, and actually being able to hang outside. Plus it doesn't get dark at like 2pm.

Opinions?

Skied today at Cannon. Wasn't able to go Sunday since my car doesn't have snow tires at the moment (will after tomorrow though). Even if I did ski Cannon Sunday my opinion would be the same. I guess I'm sort of unmotivated with skiing this season. I'm honestly excited for the snow to melt so I can go climbing and mountain biking. Though I am still wicked excited for spring time on Mt. Washington and in the Chic Chocs. Skiing 50+ degree gullies with perfect corn in the sun is so much better than a powder day.

We must have missed each other at Cannon today. Though to be honest, we did not see hardly any people where we were skiing so an easy miss for sure!

For me, some perfect corn spring days are better than some powder days but the best powder days are better than the best perfect corn days. Today was one of those days. I would not trade today for any type of day on Mount Washington.

Spring may be the best of all seasons because you can do everything in the spring and get some powder days as well. So... flawed poll, where is the spring option? ;)

I guess my opinion is kind of skewed since I live about 40 yards away from the beach and in the same city as the best mountain biking in SNE.

Cold weather still sucks though.

By the way, I just realized that I joined this forum 5 years ago. Crazy... does not feel like that long ago.

the best mtn biking in S NE..........Your too modest. Where have you been that's better than Lynn Woods? If I lived with in an hour of that place I would be there every weekend.

Without skiing, I'm not much of a fan of winter either. I hate bundling up and getting the kids out to run errands is the pits when it's wicked cold or snowy/slushy. They complain a lot about it. On the other hand, I don't like heat either. Above 75*, I start to get uncomfortable. If I had to pick from the two, it would probably be summer regardless. I love skiing, but Austin's right that there's a lot more variety in the things we do in the summer and we don't feel so bogged down by the weather, even if it may be uncomfortable at times.

I think I'm losing my cold tolerance....

I want to ski Cannon with you sometime. I don't really know the area that well and wish I had had some inside knowledge yesterday.

While I love skiing, I love mountain biking just a little bit more. FWIW my best POW days (including A Basin) were not as much fun as DH mountain biking at Highland Bike park this past summer. So I have to go with summer on this.

You should move to Northern California. Immediately. All the summer activities (and weather), but yearround (there are fewer rainy days in the California winters than in East Coast summers), plus sick skiing six months of the year, with about the same distance drive from the coast.

A year or two ago I would have voted for winter easily, but now that I've found a passion during the warmer months too it's a toss up for me.

I am in the doghouse for this exact reason. I hate humidity and heat and especially the beach.

Winter wins easily. Winter has skiing, hiking, climbing, kayaking, probably more. Summer has sitting on a beach and sweating in stifling heat and humidity.

Winter hands down. Skiing is far and away my favorite thing to do, plus you have cross country skiing, snoshoeing, and hiking. Not to mention, the natural beauty, and the comfortable weather for just being outside. Summer weather is simply uncomfortable, and while there is a lot to do, there is nothing that matches winter activities.

That being said, I love all of the seasons. I could never live anywhere that didn't have distinct seasons. The changing weather/activities, and the anticipation of seasons to come help make life interesting for me.
