Great news! I can't speak for the rest of the weekend, but it was certainly pretty busy at Sundown on Saturday. The weather was certainly nice, so that helped a lot.

I was at Sugarloaf all weekend and while the SuperQuad was busy on Saturday mid-day, I never felt that the mountain was packed. Also, a little PR hubris. If 30 - 50 mph winds at the summit is moderate winds (enough to shut down all but 3 lifts by 1 or 2pm on Saturday) I would hate to see what strong winds are!

Sunday was an amazing ski day up there and Monday with the fresh snow had no crowds at all.

After reading numerous reports of ski on lifts and empty trails at Saddleback, the 30 minute wait for the Rangely Double and the packed base lodge on Saturday tells me they probably had a pretty good weekend.

Saturday was packed in the Pocono's but weather on Sunday kept people away. Monday was awesome but I guess most people were working because crowds were non existent. One of the top ten days of the year so far.

I really hope everyone did well. Including all the supporting industries like food, lodging. A hunch tells me the hardgoods (ski equipment and duds) are not faring so well.

I would have been doing more than crying on the inside. I would have been pissed, and everyone around me would have known it. ;)

All I can say for Mount Snow this past weekend is that on Saturday they had 240 kids signed up for their Snowcamp program (and that's just the ski program for 4 to 6 year olds  )

Lots of people, but if you avoided the main lifts, you got some great, relatively uncrowded skiing/riding with minimal liftlines

Burke had an impressive showing also, this was also confirmed by Durwood (head lift operator) whom I shared a chair lift with today. It was great to see people enjoying the mountain and even with 100% territory it never felt crowded. Today was a different story (much better one!). We had a couple of inches overnight and by the time I hit a glade (marshland) there were a good 3-4 inches of untouched powder over the skied off terrain. There were maybe 40 people on the upper mountain which was awesome as the past 24hrs gave more snow than the actual MLK storm. Glades were terrific and rode Fox's Folly (top to bottom) for the first time this season which was sweeter than making love. So much so that I did it twice and cant wait for a dump to do it again. A few inches here and a few inches there has made this season VERY enjoyable and for whatever reason to me looks like better coverage than last season but that is just my impression. Keep it up Burke!

We were blacked out Sat & Sun - which worked out really well. Sunday afternoon's drive north saw LOTS of cars headed south. We woke to 4 to 5 inches of light powder and light crowds at the mountain (at least it felt that way - barely a wait for any chair I rode). And lucky us get a 4 day weekend for MLK every year - so we were back out when the lifts opened today. Still great skiing and no crowds. Great couple of days. :snow:

It always amazes me at how early people need to leave at the end of a weekend. Kind of a shame after traveling all that way. Our society is way overbooked. I suppose the kids didn't do their homework when they were supposed to...

Doesn't really surprise me. I wouldn't call myself 'overbooked', but I do want to be at 'home' relaxed and settled by 6PM on Sundays to get to bed early and start my week off on the right foot.
