My first ski day of the season. So I haven't seen an "intro" section in this forum so let me do it here. My name is Steve and I'm from Ashby Ma. I'm 61 years old and have been skiing since '62. The equipment was a bit different back then. Last year was my first year back to skiing in 5 long years due to a knee injury and the need to get a knee replacement, which I finally did. So this was my first trip out this year.
Nice cold Friday. I was on the mountain at 9:30AM and skied till noonish. The skiing was perfect except the snow making on the Polar express so I decided to stay on Minuteman for the first day.
There was no crowd at all. Went up the lift many times by myself. Just no lines on either lift. Skiing got a little cruddy in spots near the afternoon.
I went in the lodge about noonish as I was thinking I might meet a friend, but he didn't show. I was going to get lunch but they didn't have much ready and there was more a line at the food counter than anyplace else. $2.50 for a small bottle of Polar Seltzer water (they own the company). I'll brown bag it from now on at WaWa.
I got to give them credit for their snow making. They have a least 3/4 of the mountain covered completely. Grooming is almost too good. My legs were rubber by 3:00ish so I called it a day. I've got one of their Bronze passes so I can ski week-days and nights.
WaWa is a great place for nights and week-days, I haven't been there on a week-end day, But don't think I'd want to as I've seen how crowded it gets and the mountain is just not big enough to spread the crowd out. Traffic even gets heavy on week-nights many days. No weekends for me.
Ski your buns off.
