So we're finally almost ready and making the move next week, driving from Keene NH to Denver. We'll have two vehicles, 2 cats, and a fair amount of stuff and limited time so I'm not looking to hit up Cedar Point Amusement Park (as much as I'd love to) but looking for suggestions on quick hit stops or nicer places to stay along the way.

Thoughts?

Largest ball of twine?

As broring as people say Kansas is, east Colorado is worse.

Why not Cedar Point? Cats loooove roller coasters.

What route are you taking? MAkes a difference, you know.

Agre on the eastern Colorado point. Only thing worse is all of Oklahoma. Miles and miles of flat, straight, and brown.

Which isn't as bad as eastern Nevada.

flatlands of Mass.
Did the 90-80 drive about 20 years ago to Sacramento. After leaving the northeast I don't remember seeing anything interesting until I got to UT.

So far I've found the Chances R restaurant in York NE and... not much else. Not so interested in cheesy little museums. Any decent non-chain restaurant reccos would be awesome... one can only live off subway sandwiches for so long!

Lincoln Nebraska has some nice restaurants and at least one brew pub.

Chicago is not too far off your route. Other that that just keep motoring and you'll be there in about 30 hours of drive time. I actually like driving through the midwest and can see beauty in it. Your first view of the front range/long peak on 76 is definately a sight for sore eyes!

Akron OH- no particular reason, I just remember it looking like a smog-laden environemntalwasteland when we drove by on a family trip 30 years ago

I did Grand J to Nh in 34 hours last year and walked into a job interview with zero sleep. It's a LONG drive.....

I'm taking my sweet ass time in the fall!

Just do it non-stop.
This. Split it in half with a hotel stay over. There ain't nothing to see, especially since you got the cats. I toured the mid-west extensively when I was younger. It is flat, full of corn, boring, and has bad tasting water. You ain't missing nothing other than the stuff you couldn't do any ways because of the cats (such as those amusement parks in OH or Chicago).
