It was rather lame this year...
I agree, the show has lost a lot of it's "glitz". We went Friday night and found few give aways and less representation by Western mountains than in previous years. Whatever happened to the plinko game at the Cannon mt booth? We used to get great 2 for 1's and reduced ticket vouchers from them. I did like the big bad snow cat and the Red Bull Frozen Rush truck however (looking forward to that event at Sunday River). Additionally, I did score a new jacket at a good price!

seems a lot of mountains out west were not represented, where was Colorado? or did I miss them?

Aspen, Telluride, Winter Park and Steamboat were there. No Copper and no Crested Butte. Vail Resorts had general booth that covered all its locations.

I took my sons on Friday night and they had a lot of fun getting posters and stickers. Their bedroom walls are covered now. I was hoping to pick up a POC MIPs helmet for one of them and boots for the other but they didn't have really any gear for kids so that was disappointing. I did take advantage of the Okemo 3 for $150 deal, though. My oldest son really likes skiing there so we were planning to go anyway.

Just hopped on the T now with my kids heading for the expo.

A bunch of stickers and posters and who knows what else is the plan. Plus its always good to see a bunch of friends who work in the industry at the show too

I met a bunch of people but didn't get to meet everyone I wanted. Still, a good event. I think I got every resort that was there on board for an AZ challenge next spring :)

saw Ski Utah and Big Sky, must have missed Vail and steamboat

OK seriously, WTF?

I went to the ski expo in Denver that was hosted by the same group (Bewi Sports Nov 8-10) and was very disappointed. Big Sky was absent, and there were not any Vail Resorts (There was Vail jobs though) except for Breckenridge. They were really trying to push the Epic pass though, they has a stand for that. Pretty much every other ski area in Colorado was there though.

Silverton mtn was giving out stickers and condom's, which I found pretty funny.

The only out of state resorts that were represented there were Jackson Hole, Whitewater (BC), Taos, and ski Utah (Didn't represent a specific resort though, just skiing in the state as a whole)

Interesting tenants were the Vapor cigarette booth (which took up like 15 normal spaced booth spots), some hawaiian aloe, and special poles that attach to your binding so you can carry your ski's with them. Cool concept, but definitely would make you earn a lot of gaper points :)

They had the aspen 4 pack for sale, the lady selling them made it a point to mention I should buy these today during the veteran's day holiday weekend, but then when I asked if they had a military discount of any type (active, reserve, or just veteran), since they had a college discount, she said no. Figures......

One thing that just hit me and seemed a little bothersome. I was going through my emails and got the marketing email from Sugarbush and they are pushing the $199 for pak. At the show, it was the same price. It seems to me that they should have knocked it down even a little to like $179 to give it show appeal.

Other resorts like Jay Peak/QBurke, Bolton Valley, and Okemo offered show only deals that you can not get now.

Jay peak / QBurke 3 pak - $149 (use anytime, either mountain)
Bolton Valley 4 Pak - $100 (pretty good deal)
Okemo 3 pak - $149

Even Pats Peak offered a ski anytime 2 fer deal.

Don't get me wrong - Sugarbush 4 pak at $199 is still pretty good considering their window rate. Note: JP/QB 3 pak should have been a little lower considering their window rate.

Then again - I have to hand it to JP/QB with below $70 window rates!
