She is now 1st in FIS Slalom standings and 11th in the Overall. She is going to be very exciting to watch as she moves into the speed events in the future. Last year she just did slalom. This year, slalom and Giant Slalom. Next year add Super G and or Downhill?

Mikaela Shiffrin snagged 1st in the WC Slalom at Zagreb today. I was really impressed. Simply clean. Nice to the USA up there.

Vonn is back in training, not sure when she'll be back.

It is really surprising how women who spend their lives training like thoroughbred horses transform themselves into sex objects. What makes them do this? Must be some sponsor's wallet??

LV now has bodyguards for the World Champs - maybe because of Tiger Woods?

I'm kind of surprised, but not...

"With attention on her personal life intensifying, Lindsey Vonn will be surrounded by bodyguards at the Alpine skiing world championships.
...
She said Red Bull, her sponsor, has hired security "to make sure I can get in and out and not have any difficulty, but I don't expect there to be any problems. But it's better to be safe than sorry."
...

There has been online chatter about an alleged relationship between Vonn and Tiger Woods. She was asked by a local TV reporter whether the golfer would be coming to watch her ski."

Schladming, Austria – Tina Maze dominated the super G race in Schladming on 5th February and nailed her first gold medal in a speed event. Lara Gut and Julia Mancuso clinched silver and bronze, +0.38 and +0.52 seconds behind Maze.

The race was overshadowed by an accident by top favourite Lindsey Vonn who had to be carried away by helicopter. The American lost balance on her right leg while landing after a jump. Her ski came off immediately, and Vonn slid off course. She received medical treatment on the slope for approximately 12 minutes before being airlifted to hospital.

After difficult racing conditions caused by thick fog and resulting in numerous postponements, the race initially scheduled for 11:00 CET finally came to a start at 14:30 CET. Nonetheless, the atmosphere was great with thousands of cheering spectators on-site who remained in positive mood throughout the day.

After the race, Tina Maze happily stated: “This is very important for me, it is my first speed medal. I knew it would be a long day today and was ready for it. I was sure that the race would take place after all the postponements. Slovenia is such a small country and I am very happy and proud I can take this gold medal back with me.”
For Lara Gut, it was her third silver medal at a World Championship after skiing into second position in the downhill and super combined events in Val d’Isere (FRA) in 2009.

Damn shame !! Hope the kid is alright and can rehab well. Te jump didnt look that unusual but The knee just imploded on impact probably had been weakened over many years of repetitive use and this was the incident that just triggered the weakness .

3rd place in Slalom not too bad for a 17 year old today.

Without Vonn in the comp, the ladies DH and GS really opens things up. Maze has been incredible this year.

Looking forward to the DH on Wednesday. Only a few days left. Then it's over to the NorAms, trying to record all this this while I'm out on the hill.

DH Cancellation and SG postponements are driving me bonkers. Looks like it's now confirmed Mens SG confirmed at 1, women at 2:30 today (Thursday).

Too bad on the Men's DH. However, on the same technicality, it's amazing that Vonn still takes the title away - by a dumbfounding one point.

It's frustrating though, the number of times I've set to program, woken in the AM to find jumping, biathalon, etc. Damn fog.

Looking forward to the SG which starts in 15 mins!
