It's too bad that the Stairway at Sundaown is too steep for a downhill race. Then we could have the Oylimpics at Harford with a 40-year-old convention center and gridlock traffic from the NY border all the way across 84.

Boom. Shots fired!!

Wonder when the olympics will be no more because they cant find a country willing to lose billions

It's getting close. Which is why they're increasingly going to Communist and/or totalitarian nations

It would be good for the games to be held in LP in order to "reinvigorate" the local infrastructure.

Good for us local and regional skiers, terrible for New York State taxpayers.

Lake Placid wants to make a bid at the 2026 Olympics. Interesting idea. Big players in the US up against them though, Anchorage, Salt Lake City, Denver, Reno.

Of those, I think SLC makes the most sense due to logistics and existing infrastructure. I could see slick politicians on the take convincing Alaskans the games would be positive for the area though. Reno wont happen, as the taxpayers wont swallow that feces-laden pill. Lake Placid wont happen because NYS cant afford it. Denver would be a sham because events would have to be held all over the state rather than in Denver, but I guess that precedent's already been set, so maybe.

I've seen people throw out a Boston/NY joint bid, where the skiing events are held in Lake Placid, and the other events are in Boston and NYC.

If it gets to this point they may as well have the skiing events in Austria, the ice skating events in Sweden, the hockey in America, and the luge and bobsled in Canada, etc... These bids will zillions of miles between events are just getting silly.
