Am I weird?

I know most everyone here gets the ski jones...I know I do. Even when it isn't too bad like this past season I get it.

And it's always in the background until July 4.

Stay with me here...about 10 years ago I put some ski gear away a bit wet and opened it up the next season to a whiff and fuzzy coat of mildew. Blech! So I always leave my gear out to dry in my cool dry basement until fully dry. Until July 4th.

Sure enough, today I woke up free of the jones. I went downstairs and put my gear away, put my footbeds and liners back in my boots, packed things up for my first ski trip of 08/09, and woo hoooooo it's ski season 08/09.

And tonight I get fireworks.

Maybe it's a mental illness.

Most certainly it's a mental illness! And I, like so many others on this board, share that illness. Ain't technology wonderful!

Still in the middle of summer projects at Sunapee, so I never really get a chance to not think about the winter. Only about 123 days approximately until tentatively an east coast ski area opens (toss up between SR and Mount Snow).

Normally, I'd be right there with Jim. Not this season. Not at all. Any guesses why, Brian?

I can handle this

You start posting about how you miss mountain biking come ski season though and I think a shake up at the admin level will be warranted

;)

I'm thinking about hanging up the skis and selling the site, actually. ;)

Seriously, I expect to be in some of the best shape of my life once ski season finally rolls back around.

Couldn't imagine, too busy fixing plumbing in the house??

;)

It's nice to have a fun off season activity to keep my mind off of skiing, keeps me from going mental. Hopefully this year MTBing keeps me distracted a bit longer than it did last year.

It doesn't snow in CT anyway so he can just mountain bike the whole winter. Seriously I'm probably not going to get a Wawa pass since I would rather just go mountain biking. (I was probably not going to get the pass anyway, being able to mountain bike at least 1/3rd of the winter will probably seal the deal.

Let's not get crazy. Once the mighty Sundown is open, the bike will be put away until spring.

I don't usually get going until August when the tent sales and club tickets go on sale. this year screwed me up, when our club decided to advance buy tickets in June. I'm locked and loaded.

Yea that June thing screwed me too. Didn't have the finances in June to do it. Was banking on the August thing. What is the ticket availability during the season like?

Guess I bowed out on the initial ticket sales...no fault of the club, the SkiNH offerings just don't have the discount that they used to.

It did get me thinking about the season a bit early, though.

Having a new dog's been a real distraction this year...also been looking forward to the 2nd annual family camping trip.

This year will be different.
As I understand it, NH created the most draconian of programs, so that the clubs don't get "packages", they just buy straight quantities, so I don't expect many "leftovers".

For VT, they raised prices, but continue offer blocks of tix. That will continue the tradition of having "leftovers" which are sold months later. Leftovers are always "Tier II or Tier III", a-la, Bromley, Bolton, sometimes MRG, Suicide, Burke, etcetera. (Tiers are priced-based, no reflection on quality...) I think the leftovers will be offered for sale starting in September.

the club email list starts to show ticket available in late Feb. from members who can't use them for any number of reasons.

This is going to be a different kind of year. I am thinking that we need to canvas the membership and see what they would like to see?

That's ok, I'm mostly interested in ME and VT. Will still probably work for me!
