So in the pet peeve thread, we got on to the topic of Girl Scout cookies and I have committed to buying some from Paul's daughter-still working on logistics but it will happen. As a concurrent good-thing-to-do project, I plan to send a care package to kid who used be my neighbor and is now serving in Iraq. This is a match made in heaven. I really don't need the empty calories but support both scouting and our soldiers. The cookies are going to Iraq.
A mother of another soldier recently told me that they really appreciate treats in the mail over there. No matter how you feel about the US participation in Iraq (no politics rule), I encourage you to do the same-it's really not that hard to find someone serving there that has connections to nearly every community in America. Quite frankly, it would be clever if the Girl Scouts offered this as a complete service where you pay for the addtional shipping to make it happen.
