Mad River Glen, VT: “Tele Shaming since 1948.”

Yeah, not really. Tele skiing in USA didn't kick in until the 1970s

There was only tele skiing back then.

It was just called skiing though

Did you ever see the boots for those old cable bindings? Pretty stiff, even steel in the sole, I wasn't there then, but hard to imagine them dropping a knee. The pictures of folks skiing show more Arlberg technique, than tele.

Killington, seems best bar in NY would be more appropriate.

+1 NY/NJ/CT are the key markets for Killington. Killington probably still laments that the growth of Sunday River came from their loss of the Eastern MA / Boston market.

Sugarloaf should be, "we cut down all the trees, so if we're not currently on wind hold, we soon will be."

I always see more license plates from New Jorsy than NY when I'm there.

NYer's come up on buses, so they can drink the whole way up & back.

What's not to agree with the Alta slogan? They are intolerant of snowboards.

They don't allow snowboarding; snowboarders are welcome but have to ski. I find Alta to be a great place with lots of friendly folks. I haven't heard ONE person say that they hate snowboarders or anything negative.

I'm sure there are great people at Alta. I'm sure there are great people at Deer Valley. There are great people at MRG too. But, factually, all three areas don't tolerate snowboarding.

ALTA, UT:
“Snowboard Intolerant.”

Remember that video with interviews of Alta regulars in the parking lot? Didn't a number of them specifically say they don't like snowboarders? A ludicrous thing to say.

I only hate a very small subset of snowboarders.

The 11 to 16 year old advanced beginner to lower-intermediate that feels he/she MUST "conquer" that black diamond or double black diamond by side-slipping the entire trail and x-acto knife scrapping it to death and/or killing prior mogul development.

It always amazes me how strong the feelings against snowboarders are. I find hard to 'hate' anybody who's out having fun on the hill. 'Annoyed' is about the most I can summon up.
