I only hate a very small subset of snowboarders.

The 11 to 16 year old advanced beginner to lower-intermediate that feels he/she MUST "conquer" that black diamond or double black diamond by side-slipping the entire trail and x-acto knife scrapping it to death and/or killing prior mogul development.

There is a subset of skiers (of all ages I might add) that does the exact same thing. I'd argue that anyone who has ever slid on snow has done it at some point during their skill development.

It always amazes me how strong the feelings against snowboarders are. I find hard to 'hate' anybody who's out having fun on the hill. 'Annoyed' is about the most I can summon up.

As a snowboarder, I also hate these snowboarders. However, I see skiers doing it as well and am not a fan of that. Generally, I'm not a fan of anyone ruining the good snow conditions no matter what they're using to get down the hill.

Being primarily a skier and occasionally a rider, my main annoyance are those snowboarders who insist on slapping their boards down flat while waiting in lift lines.

What's worse is when skiers do it and either
A) slam their skis down onto your board or
B) fling snow up into the air, not caring who it hits or lands on.

HAHA, yes holy crap. Skiers do this too, and now with a good subset of people riding around on 110+ skis it's as frustrating as a board if not more.

Beginner skiers, especially kids, will go down a black with a massive snowplow that will damage the trail nearly as much as a board does if the kid is going fast enough. Don't make a single turn and will ruin any developing bumps the same way

Not to rain on your self-righteous party, but I imagine every single poster in this thread that used the word, "hate", has done so as a synonym for "really annoyed by".

There is a subset of skiers that does the exact same thing.

Yes, but it's not unidirectional and thus doesn't do quite the same damage (doesn't exert same force either).

More importantly, there are many more snowboarders doing this "really annoying" behaviour than skiers simply because at that skill level, they can. Going full pizza on something too steep for your skill level is scary, and can get out of control fast. Going full side-slip on a snowboard is not the same. I'm pretty confident this is why you see more snowboard beginners doing it than beginner skiers.

(of all ages I might add)

I would say that 90% of the time that I see this behaviour, it's by someone quite young.

Have you ever tried snowboarding? I've tried a few times and I have to disagree. It's easy to suddenly feel out of control. Even slideslipping like that is not at all easy and certainly frightening, at least when compared to what going pizza is like. Going full slideslip I don't think is at all any easier or less scary than pizza in skis. You can get out of control just as easily on a board.

While I'm sure this does happen, I don't remember seeing someone do this intentionally on skis-- well, maybe at Mt. Snow.

Haha, that's exactly where I saw it. I'm sure nobody ever does things like that intentionally though.

Remember that video with interviews of Alta regulars in the parking lot? Didn't a number of them specifically say they don't like snowboarders? A ludicrous thing to say.

I take that video with a grain of salt honestly for a number of reasons. First, the guys making that film were looking for a fight. They had a particular POV and were looking to confirm it. Second, they obviously edited hours of film to only show the incidents that supported their argument. There were probably a lot of people who did not engage them or care and we don't see them. Last, we don't see anyone from the resort proper giving them a hard time.

And I can only comment as to who I've interacted with...and that is quite a few folks.

No kidding! Why waist the snow in the lift line - I rather wait until I am on the lift and tap my skis together and try to hit people on the trail below me!

Haha! I don't see that too often. Generally, I just try not to act like a douche in lift line or while on the chair and I hope others do the same. If you wanna slap your board/skis and throw snow around, I don't mind at all. Just don't hit my board or throw snow on me while you're doing it.
