I find that truly challenging terrain is never crowded, so I'll go with terrain.

However, crowds are the bane of my existence. Nothing worse than a crowd of idiots perched on the lip of the only roller on an otherwise boring trail.

i'll go with uncrowded. challenging terrain is fun but spending time avoiding others puts a damper on the day.
