When the snow is deep - I knock my feet back a couple of clicks to stay on the back of the board and not have to lean back...

I'd imagine that being back on the board would cause problems with a duck stance.. You may want to try something more nuetral...

Best thing I did ...buy a Burton Fish then Malolo. Both have setback stances for float. Malolo a little more versatile (better on the firm stuff). Been softening my stance for years (started in hard boots 40front/30back)...21 front, 9 back works for me. Whatever works is cool.

But does anyone change their angles according to the conditions or you pretty much ride with the same stance your use to whether it is pow or hard pack?

Pow? Whats pow??

Hoonestly 99% of the time I ride the same stance. Once I have moved binding back 2 holes in Tahoe (and that was only cuz the crew I was with was all doing it at the house prior to heading out)...but generally too lazy.

I pretty much ride with the same stance all the time. However, I naturally have a duck footed stance from 15 years of competitive swimming (I dont know why but all swimmers get it for some reason).

If I'm on firm stuff, I move my angles 3-6 degrees (both feet) towards the tip.

I would mellow that stance down a bit for the pow but it is all about feel. If your nose is sinking in the deep than you need to be further back. If you get the back leg burn to soon try a few clicks back. Stance is something that you need to dial in to your riding style. Play with it a bit and see where it takes you.

A good refrence is subtract 15 degrees from your front foot. This is naturaly more comfortable. Personaly I started around 23-21 front but the older i get I find that I am backing off on my front now run around 18-21 minus 15 on back. This all depends on mood or day. As far as position on board ice all the way up front, the deeper the pow the further back. I also have a fish but some days i want to drag that tail around.
