what if the east coast had another 2000-3000 ft of vertical, like say the bases were at 3-5K feet with peaks at 5-7Kfeet...

Never knew that about the 'dacks...maybe thats why they seem more dynamic.
Do you know If it true their bedrock is similar to a Canadian bedrock?
and the Appalachians are related to the mountains in Scandinavia?

Not sure about the Appalachians, but yes the Adirondacks are born from a different rock base than the Apps and are more closely related to the Laurentians.
