Anyone know what happened to the RSN forums?

Ah, the old Hunta debate...They really should have more Rangers on the weekend...and I would love to see someone get clipped...just once...

That said...Ski Hunta on Week days..the kids ski free...and if you stay over you can usually get $32.00 lift....Damn near as big as Mount Snow

The Sugarbush RSN forum, as well as others, have been up and running for a couple of months now.

The Sugarbush forum was only down for a short time. We've been up for most of the winter. As for the rest... I can't believe they shut down all the forums for the entire ski season!

At this point I have to wonder what RSN's aim is. Every ski resort I've ever seen is far more dead away from ski season. Why whould RSN think they'd be on the chat sites if they have nothing to do with the resort?

I just don't understand what they want to accomplish. Could they have missed their target by that much? When I've seen 3 individuals set up their own chat sites during the time the RSN sistes were down? And it took them days to set them up... Not all ski season!

The RSN forums are also still old technology. Here is what I was told. The forums are considered a service, a necessary but annoying servie. RSN is totally focused on the TV/cable side of the business. I think they are doing well there.

The forums were originally concieved as a place where people could go for local info, trip reports. To say that this is not exactly what they have become would be an understatement. Just read the posts in the Sugarbush forum and I think you will understand what I mean.

I watched RSN TV while spending the winter up at the Bush..it was great. Reel Thrills is a very entertaining program.

I thought that RSN at Sunday River was so-so. The segments were interesting, but were pretty much canned and run every day...

I appreciated the Sunday River Snow Reports on the RSN channel in the morning...but sometimes the info was dated.

As for the chat rooms, people may complain that there is a bias in here, but the RSN rooms are set up, monitored (or at least were at one time), and funded by the ski resort so if one had a legitimate question that was considered offensive/controversial/against the resort's interest (i.e. "what's up with the stupid snow report?" or something....) it would get axed.

RSN-Sugbush is now overrun by Whiteface folks looking for a home

RSN Chat room axing

As far as Wachusett's forum...It's a second home for me.

I've always appreciated Wa's willingness to leave negative posts displayed (usually about the park and the vaccum noise it makes...usually made by kids, but sometimes by valid competitors).

Having a monitor/moderator is key IMO. Wildcat had a forum for a while when I fisrt joined RSN. It was rather roudy...and if you weren't a local...you weren't welcomed. Cranmore's and Ragged's RSN forums were DEAD.

The "Top 10" forums probably weren't compteting against too many other forums. Wa, Sugarbush, Chateau Relaxeau, Mountain Creek (NJ, becaome Ski NJ when it went out-of-control), Whiteface (become Ski NY when it went out of control) were also in the top 10.

Ski-Tremblant looks like it uses a similar set up to this one. It used to be in the top 10 as part of RSN.

The moderators seem to play a role in the flavor of the forum. Wa had AJ Martino for years...cool guy. When he left, the room already had a personality to it, so it hasn't suffered so much from neglect (besiddes, there are a few of us who narc on the obnoxious posters to the appropriate level of Mgt for resolution).

I liked RSN's premise...linking several resorts via a common forum mode. Wa used to get visitors from out west. They'd pose questions pertaining to upcoming business trips to the region...wondering about conditions and rental gear etc. Missed that this year wit RSN's "limited" forum offerings. You had to know the forum addy to get to it vs RSN's central directory. I didn't knw Sugarbush's forum was open till someone told me about it near the end of the season.

To say that this is not exactly what they have become would be an understatement. Just read the posts in the Sugarbush forum and I think you will understand what I mean.

As noted above, the recent problem with the Sugarbush forum is that it got invaded by people with little else to do.

Still, even after they showed up anyone wanting info on Sugarbush or the area has no problem getting it there. Tho it would be easier if the post where they asked, and were answered didn't get pushed off the page by inane pratttle.

And if the Whiteface guys were in a forum with the format of this one, they could sit in their own little thread and enjoy themselves, not bothering anyone else.

As for their TV, I watched it when I first got my place at Sugarbush, but now seldom other than the morning show on weekends. Our local crew do a great job.
