My Review

Hi,

Has anyone on this forum tried out BerrySki?
I saw a post on it earlier on this forum.
I have already contacted their support staff and verified that it would work on my Storm. I am looking for real world feedback before I go ahead and get it.

Okay, thanks a lot for reading this,

So I looked at the product. Interesting concept, needs a lot of work. The number of supported eastern resorts is meager, at 16. I don't see Cannon, Burke, Wildcat, Pico, Bromley, Wachusett, Blue, Bolton, Hunter, Sundown, Gore or Waterville to name a few.

It's a shame there is a subscription associated with it. It expires a the end of the ski season. So, if I want to download a plot I left on there in July, I'm SOL in the off-season. It will be costly over time, especially since I can download maps for free.

I would be more interested in an iPhone application. For now, I just load the trail maps into my iTouch and look at them on the drive up, listening to the snow reports on what trails are opening, deciding where to turn the wheels (assuming it's not me driving.)

I don't have any need to have a log of my paths; a video cam is vastly more interesting. I suppose if I'm lost or tracking slack country it might be useful, but the topo features are pretty minimal, plus it's fun to go exploring. I'm out to have fun and disconnect, don't feel a need to be connected like that.

I have also noticed even when using my hiking GPS for skiing fast on- and off-piste that it loses track of me quite often. I end up with two or three data points for the whole run. Not too helpful.

It looks like I have to mount my Blackberry externally, which could be interesting when I take my requisite tumbling lessons across snow snakes and ravines :)

I could not find the previous post that Vladimir references on this forum.

Lastly, I could find no online discussions about it other than a few comments on Epic. Looks the company is brand-new.

I'd suggest you pass on this Vladimir, wait till the product matures and a few more reviews come out.
