Oh crap. I didn't know it was a bushwack, I thought it was pretty well used trail. Also though if the snow froze up couldn't you just hike the GG trail up and out(or just scrabble up the rocks?)

River, awf... You could always bring your hiking boots, and hike out on the GG trail or Sphinx if worst came to worst. Both difficult trails, but nothing an avid hiker couldn't do. I don't think you'd need cramps or an axe to get yourself out of GG. If you can ski stuff in the Ravine near the headwall you'd be able to ski GG.

Let me re-phrase. I said the prior implying that if you can ski the hard parts of the ravine, that you got up there via boot packing the ravine. If you can boot your way to the top of tucks, you'd be able to do the same in the GG

Thats what I meant, hiking out in hiking boots. Isn't the sphinx trail a ladder trail though? GG trail would probably be a better option as it brings you closer to the auto road and is less steep.

And regarding RiverC0il: I think it is pretty obvious that he is just a big sissy and is trying to make up excuses just because he is too scared to ski the GG.;-):p

I don't recall there being ladders on the Sphinx trail, but I could be wrong. Six Husbands definitely has a few sets of ladders though.

NVM, thats it then. I knew there was a ladder trail somewhere in that area but couldn't remember which trail it was.

Sphinx trail does not have ladders, however it brings you to the saddle between jefferson and clay, its not an easy hike.

The GG trail, in my opinion is harder than sphinx... very steep and follows a stream bed... Loose rock, if you are not a good hiker, neither of these trails are for you, But I take it if you are skiing GG you have some high alpine skills...

if respecting your limits and nature equates to being a sissy then count me in.
