Has anyone seen any early predictions for winter? I'm worried that this summer's exceptional ice melt in the Artic Ocean that continued into mid-September will lead to a late winter start. Open ocean has a moderating effect on climate and the ice-free sections may take longer to ice over.

But I'm not a meteorologist, of course, and haven't seen anything to support this guess.

Last winter got a late start and it turned out okay. I don't care when it starts as long as it eventually goes full throttle for long enough that we can enjoy it.

When the power plant goes off line for reactor refueling, we go on a 12 hour shift / 6 or 7 days a week schedule until we are back on line. We go off line April 1.

Wow...I didn't know you worked at a power plant..kind of like Homer Simpson..mad overtime though.

Haven't you ever seen Day After Tomorrow? Beano's going to be stuck in the central library under 30 feet of snow fighting off man eating coyotes for pencilin this winter.

I don't remember half of that movie because all I could think about was how good the skiing would be if that happened... :daffy:

Haha, I was thinking the same thing. I mean, it's a ludicrous movie on many levels. I mean the times when they're literally trying to outrun the cold blast? Or the wolves? Stuuuupid.

But I did keep thinking about how awesome it would be to have a monster storm dump enough snow to keep us skiing through the entire summer.
