Thanks. Useful information anyone planning a trip to Whiteface, Jay Peak, etc... should know each year ahead of time.

There is the odd school board that has spring break one week earlier or later but the greater Montreal area is always the first of March. Jay Peak has been very agressive with its Marketing in Montreal since the Waterpark was finished. March break being completely booked, I know of quite a few families who have decided to go to Stowe and Smuggler's instead. They can blame Jay if they get an increase in French Canadian clientele this year. I doubt the 10% drop in the Canadian dollar will stop too many people.

Heading out to bed. Up at 6h15 to get to the summit for sunrise and early access to the goods.

Thank you. So the weekends of March 1,2 and 8,9 are the "unsafe" ones?

We will be in the area wknd of March 7-10.....had plans to ski Jay with my wife on that Saturday. Now realizing it is CAD school vacation week I may reconsider......I have a Jay voucher so wanna make use of it. Would I be better doing smuggs on sat and Jay on Sunday thinking more people would be heading out early the final day of vacation?

Sunday is always better than Saturday. Another thing to consider is that even though the resort will be fully booked during that week, the truth is that in terms of skier traffic, there is not a huge difference anymore at Jay between holiday week-ends and normal week-ends. Once you add up MLk week-end, president's week-end and the numerous school breaks (Vermont, NY, Mass., Quebec, Ontario) you end up with ski traffic being a lot more related to weather and ski conditions than anything else. The old Jay used to have empty week-ends, not anymore (unless it is arctic cold like it's been last month).
