Avalanche on the Trap Dyke -- Mount Colden

It happened on the 14th. It looks like it was a rather large one as it ripped right through part of a forest and over to the other side of Avalanche Lake.

Why do people think the avalanche "caused" the flood? In March 1983, we camped in the same approximate location and experienced similar "flash", overnight flooding. It was due to the simple break up of the lake ice and overflow.
